Cantor and Boehner want script approval for Obama’s speech

Get a load of this headline: "John Boehner, Eric Cantor seek common ground with Obama."
The lede is even better:

The two top House Republicans want President Barack Obama to huddle with congressional leadership before his Thursday jobs speech to discuss potential areas of bipartisan agreement.

In a letter to the president Tuesday, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) laid out several areas of common ground, including passing three long-stalled trade agreements, reducing regulation and funding certain infrastructure projects.

HAHAHAHAHHA

1. They just want to give him a preemptive wedgie
before the speech. They'll stuff him in his locker after.

3. What're the odds that Obama grants their request? Seriously. These two should F off and
wait to see what Obama has to say in his speech that was so clearly an inconvenience to them that they refused his first date request.

9. The reporter on MSNBC just said it "didn't sound like it was
going to happen". Don't know what she/they heard, but I hope she's right.

But see? This is yet another instance where they've been able to put us over a barrel. Obama declines, they're all "we WANTED to meet with the President and initiated a meeting, but he wouldn't even see us!"; Obama says OK and he's got us all screaming that he's caving again, and no matter what happens, THEY'D come out of the meeting saying Obama wouldn't play ball.

15. Yep. Sounds like a set-up.
They want him damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I think most of the American people will ignore the bitching the GOP is going to unleash about how "uncooperative" the president is.

Didn't Obama offer to meet with them? He usually is very open to it.

18. He almost usually has to agree - otherwise the fallout would

be dire, probably. People would JUMP on his "refusal to discuss" the problems. If he could present a CHART showing how many times he's extended the olive branch but they've declined, then maybe people would see what he's up against. But for the most part, I don't think all that many people pay attention except for the 10 second sound bites shown on the nightly news. :(

Edit: Ranting faster than I was typing. :7

5. Why shouldn't they ask?
Boehner just got 98% of what he wanted out of the latest crisis manufactured by him and his Republican brothers in the House. Why shouldn't he and Eric go mooching for that last 2%? And will President Obama decide that in the spirit of compromise, he'll offer them 5%?

12. "Probably"
I certainly hope not. Unless President Obama now feels he has to let the Speaker of the House and the House Majority Leader run the country. That's not why he was elected, but it seems he needs to be reminded every now and again.

16. What else do you expect the reporter to say if that's what
she got from the WH? No statement officially from the WH, so don't know where she got her info.

I certainly hope not, too!
