Rick Perry awaits Federal dollars and FEMA in Texas:

<snip>

Perry said at a news conference that wildfires have claimed 3.5 million acres in Texas since December.

He said the Federal Emergency Management Agency likely would arrive Wednesday and that Texas would seek federal disaster relief. He also said officials were considering seeking military resources from nearby Fort Hood.

Perry said it's too soon to tell whether he'll miss Wednesday's GOP debate in California. He added that he's "not paying attention to politics right now."

13. Didn't he and his Republicon cronies secede from the USA?
Edited on Tue Sep-06-11 12:07 PM by SpiralHawk
Since Lone Star Republicons have turned their backs on America, is is fair for them now to stick their hands out for some kinda socialist freebies, as they would term it.

21. Perry doesn't want a handout to his State from the federal government.
He wants foreign aid from the United States to the Lone Star.

Not the same thing at all.

3. Perry's an idiot. FEMA arrived this morning.
They're on the ground and making rounds in Bastrop as I type and supposed to have folks working the rest of the fire disasters today as well.

5. I'm glad to hear FEMA is already there - they were here in the Galveston
area prior to Ike hitting as well. FEMA may not be perfect, but they have been here as needed. Perry should be thankful for that.

10. Perry should have been aware they were already in the state and working the fires.
But then it's Perry we're talking about.

FEMA does the best they can with what they have. The individual workers on the ground are for the most part wonderful and very hardworking people.

6. FWIW, as a Texas resident, I do think he should skip the debate -
he needs to tend to his state right now, and do you really think he's going to say anything useful at the debate? No, me either.

11. The Republicon hypocrisy is overwhelming
Edited on Tue Sep-06-11 12:04 PM by SpiralHawk
what a-holes the Republicons are to have cut their firefighting capacity to give tax breaks to rich republicons, and now to come begging to the other 49 states to save their amoral 'family values' asses with what they demean as United States Socialism.

Get a clue, RepubliBaggers. Americans can see right thru you.

12. Obama needs to cut a ginormous Federal check for Texas
And insist that Perry come to the White House for a photo op where Obama hands him the check.

Then if Perry becomes the nominee and starts whining about the federal government, he can just whip out the picture of a grinning Perry shaking hands with him as he accepts bazillions of government bucks.

16. Perry says was misquoted: Actually was going to pray harder, to ask congress for Emergency Tax Cut,
and to have us secede in order to deal with this unprecedented disaster brought on by the worst drought in recorded Texas history (which has nothing to do with the myth of global warming - though such is exactly what is predicted by the bonehead, commie, godless "scientists")

He reportedly went on to say "Immediate, and deep, tax-cuts are required so that we do not turn to the false god of a democratic society and nation to help us. We need to get back to basics here. This is a time for us Texans to stand up on our own two feet and fall, crying out to the Lord, to our knees and beg for the mercy of God."
