Ron Paul Ties Rick Perry To Al Gore In 2012 Campaign Ad (VIDEO)

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is going after rival contender Rick Perry with a new campaign ad highlighting the Texas governor's past support for former vice president and presidential candidate Al Gore.

"The establishment called him extreme and unelectable, they said he was the wrong man for the job. It's why a young Texan named Ron Paul was one of only four congressmen to endorse Ronald Reagan's campaign for president," says a narrator in the 60-second television spot. "After Reagan, Senator Al Gore ran for president, pledging to raise taxes and increase spending, pushing his liberal values. And Al Gore found a cheerleader in Texas named Rick Perry. Rick Perry helped lead Al Gore's campaign to undo the Reagan revolution, fighting to elect Al Gore president of the United States. Now, America must decide who to trust: Al Gore's Texas cheerleader or the one who stood with Reagan.

Perry is such an opportunist! How can you go from supporting Gore to RW evangelical extreme & teabaggers?

1. The whole field of candidates are pathological liars ...
Best you can say on any given day is they are intellectually dishonest POSs.

Not sure how Perry being a scumbag somehow disqualifies him in a field of scumbags.

3. It won't desroy him
Perry will lose only the teabaggers who were leaning toward Ron Paul anyway.

7. Ron Paul won't lay a glove on Perry
with that lame-ass diss. Perry supporters don't give a shit and Paul supporters were with him anyway.

9. Reagen has nothing to do with this next election ...
Everyone will stand in his library underneath Airforce One and kiss his butt, beyond that, this election is a red meat election - whoever is the meanest and most non-obamaish is going to win. That is Perry.

5. No problemo, thanks to Perry's evangelical cred
Evangelicals love a conversion narrative; the Saul-on-the-road-to-Damascus, "I was blind but now I see" hallelujah moment is at the center of their faith in a way it's not for more mainstream Christians. Watch for Perry to testify ("oh, I was wicked, brothers and sisters, wicked! I smoked and drank and cussed and was seduced by that Whore of Babylon, the DLC!") and thus inoculate himself from this, very soon.

8. Ronnie's was more clever
"I didn't leave the Democratic Party; they left me." Which was actually a brilliant tactical move, since it absolved him of flip-flopping and allowed him to disown the party of Carter and McGovern while still claiming to have no problem with FDR. Of course, it helped that FDR wasn't still around when he said it (unlike Gore now; which is why Perry needs a different narrative).
