Murdoch pays himself $41 Million
Edited on Tue Sep-06-11 08:14 AM by sfpcjock
Yes, it was a very good year to get $33 Million in salary and $8 Million in stock, a 47% increase in salary plus a $12.5 Million bonus. See, when you fire 110 people who are doing the news too well, there is money left over for the deserving.

(Reuters) - More than 100 staff are to lose their jobs this year at News International, the Rupert Murdoch-owned British newspaper group at the centre of a phone-hacking and police bribery scandal.

News International Chief Executive Tom Mockridge said he expected to lose around 110 of the company's 3,000 workers over the course of the financial year.

Would you have expected anything else give the closure of the News Of The World ?

So I can't quite understand your remark - "when you fire 110 people who are doing the news too well" in the context that most here went whoopee when he closed the NOTW.

The spread is across News International contributed to by the fact that some NOWT staff will land up occupying the jobs of others.

See here : It is understood that all departments at The Sun, The Times and the Sunday Times will be hit by the job losses, including editorial staff. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/feedarticle/9832590

In general our newspapers over here are suffering from providing free online content. Its expected that the Guardian will be first to fold and go out of business completely.

3. He fires people and takes their salaries. Simple. What's not to understand?
Now it creates a motivation for him doing it.

4. That's a ridiculous comment.

What is it you can't grasp about the fact that if the NOWT, which employed far more than 110 anyway , don't exist it don't need any staff.

He doesn't "take their salaries" - they were paid by the NOWT's income which exceeded those salaries but is now nil. His net benefit is a loss : not a gain.

6. Right, but these salaries are non-productive boondoggles...
Edited on Tue Sep-06-11 09:26 AM by sfpcjock
that should be limited to about 200 times a worker's salary and no more. Otherwise, they cannot be given the public charger of a limited liability corporation with the rights and privileges.
