Obama Readies Tepid Jobs Plan While The Right Settles in for Economic Apocalypse
http://www.smirkingchimp.com/thread/danny-schechter/38250/obama-readies-tepid-jobs-plan-while-the-right-settles-in-for-economic-apocalypse

NEW YORK, Labor Day Weekend 2011 - The magic wand is being readied in the White House as the President and his minions finally unwrap the mother of all jobs plans that will be revealed to the rest of us in a speech next Thursday before the cameras and Congress with the gravitas-packed aura of a State of the Union Address.

Attention, collapsing economy: you finally have the big man’s attention. Nearly 70 organizations are pressing the President to take strong action.

:snip:

One hardly expects any sort of mea culpa or acknowledgment that the masters of the economic universe Obama appointed, like Geithner, Summers, Rohmer and Golsbee may not have served us well, i.e., may have blown it big time.

That’s history; Obama now has as a new Ivy League advisor, Alan Kreueger, who was, in fact, an old advisor and Geithner crony.

4. Thank you for posting this link. The article pretty much
sums it up...no excitement, because we know how broken the system is. Neither side cares. If Obama cannot excite his own base, he alone is to blame...he did indeed throw away the incredible momentum and belief the entire country had in him. Why? I guess we will continue to ask ourselves why, since obviously, we still want to blame the repubs for the obstructionist blockade they have become. Before they stole a few more elections to garner their present "majority" in Congress, the momentum was thrown away in some kind of effort at "bipartisan" goals, or so we are told. I call BS, and many more do as well.

What we have is a stalemate, an engineered stalemate. No change for the USA. Why? Because it is no longer a democracy. We are owned, and the gov't itself bows to its corporate donors and it shamelessly continues to throw the middle class under the bus, while killing off the poor. All of it done via class warfare. They fund the war machine, while pissing on labor unions. It was just a matter of time. Now, we'll get more of the same with a few crumbs thrown until the next election is over...does it really matter who is in the WH?
This is where we are at with a democrat.

The utter shame of it can no longer be hidden. There is no excitement or hope left. Just batten down the hatches and tighten the belt, get ready for the projected ten years ahead of us, austerity is what has been wrought. There are no heroes, the FDR we hoped for has abandoned his base, or perhaps more truthfully, he simply is in the wrong party.

6. It's kind of funny how Danny Schechter, the writer of this piece,
Keeps saying that no President can fix this mess of an economy. And yet FDR seemed to be able to fix an even bigger mess. I guess FDR was just a Super President.

The end of the article sums it up like this:

"So if Marx can’t help us, and Obama is posturing for political reasons, and the Republicans are playing at trench warfare in the interest of big business, and while the US still lacks the kinds of populist movements that are rocking the streets of Europe and even Israel, where can a breakthrough occur?

Calling our superheroes. We need you now more than ever."

No we don't need a super hero we merely need those willing to get out in the streets and occupy them for months.

The revolution has already begun and the author of this piece is oblivious. He does not know what is going on.

But we do.

Here are 2 battles we hope you will join.

The prolonged occupation of Wall Street on 17 Sept (http://www.adbusters.org/blogs/adbusters-blog/occupywallstreet.html) and the prolonged occupation of Washington DC on 6 Oct (http://october2011.org/welcome).
