The annual Labor Day parade moves down Capitol Avenue on Monday. More than 100 groups participated.

Firetrucks, crane rigs, tractors and vintage cars. The Labor Day Parade was a little tyke's play world all grown up.

Omahan Ashley Hicks brought her 6-month-old son, Ismael, to downtown Monday to catch glimpses of “the big boy toys.”

“Look at the lights,” Mom said, as a firetruck drove by.

But Ismael was busy cooing at the Union Pacific Railroad's miniature train, which was hauling dozens of children.

Several downtown streets were lined with hundreds of spectators, including eager candy snatchers.

2. I did not get to attend our parade but heard about it from my two
proud grand-daughters. Their 4 little ones under age 5 got stickers to put on their shirts from Amy K and Al Franken early in the parade. So when craavack came by they all showed him their pretty buttons. The mother's just laughed - we could not have coached them better. Then they all went down to the free picnic and fun. Kids and mom's got to talk to our Democrats.

I asked how craavack was doing and they told me that people were turning away from him when he came to shake hands. I hope he got the message.
