Jail. Them. Now.

by Jonathan Tasini
Friday 02 of September, 2011

I get ginned up as much as the next person when I read about any government action against the financial institutions that robbed millions of people of their jobs and retirement--and their dignity and respect. But, in some way, this is a game.

Unless the heads of these institutions go to jail, nothing will change.

.....(snip).....

J.P. Morgan was fined $153 million and Goldman Sachs was fined $550 million for their role in securities fraud linked to mortgage investments sold to investors.

What happened? None of the CEOs lose their jobs and their pay goes up to record levels. ............(more)

3. If you steal a ham sandwich in this country, you go to jail.
If you steal the retirements and homes of millions you get a bonus.

If you rob a bank never use a gun.

Want to be a career criminal? Find a place of trust with large amounts of money and little or no regulation. You will know when you are there and what you can get by with. Greed will be encouraged and is driving force in the system.

7. What can be done? I mean, what can I, just one person, do? I agree....something
should happen to these crooks. They almost destroyed the country for their own greed....they've cost us all in losses in our retirement accounts, and the loss of employment.

The cost is immeasurable.

And yet...no one is sitting in jail over it? Is that because it was all technically legal? If it was legal, then how could they be fined?

8. There you go again!
You can't "begrudge them their wealth."

I know these guys, and "they are just savvy businessmen."

"I mean, look at all the baseball players."

"Its the Free Market!"

You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their excuses.

Solidarity!

12. The fines are a trifle. Jail and confiscate all ill-gotten wealth.
The DOJ and SEC and at least the politicians on the Banking Committees should be investigated for corruption.

There is not a fair rule of law in the USA.

16. Time To Face The Fact..ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN...
Its time for all of 'US' (we the people) to accept that:

NO ONE IS GOING TO JAIL!

As much as we all would like to see our elected officials 'do the right thing', they simply WILL NOT BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS THEM.

The power of big money donations from the 'financial sector' (big banks, wall street etc.) simply out weighs any power that we the people still seem to think we have.

The question is...What CAN we the people do? Given who and what we are up against?

Consider this...

1 - If we bank or conduct business with the Big Banks (Chase-BOA-Citi-W/Fargo). Take our money and business to smaller banks or credit unions.

2 - If we invest in stocks-bonds-futures etc., STOP!...All we are doing is making THEM richer.

3 - If we 'consume' (purchase a big ticket item) because we got a great price...DON'T!...Do without unless we absolutely need that item to continue to survive.

4 - If we don't like what are elected officials are doing we HAVE to vote them out of office. We have NO OTHER CHOICE. The problem here is, while its easy to cast our vote against a Repug, its not so easy to cast our vote against a fellow Dem. Especially when the 'other' guy is from the 'other' party.

What is the SIMPLE answer?....There is NO SIMPLE ANSWER!

But I know this. The ONLY thing these fat cats understand is money, and the ONLY WAY TO HURT THEM is in their wallets.

We must figure out some way, individually or collectively, to hit them where it hurts.

And THAT is our dilemma.

What may be good for one, may not be good for all.

And what may be good for all may well hurt many others.

We are truly faced with a gigantic Gorgon's Knot.
