Two-week-old baby mauled to death by family dog
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2033892/Two-week-old-baby-mauled-death-family-dog.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

<snip>
A two-week-old baby boy died has died after being mauled by the family's dog as his mother looked on in horror.

The infant had been placed in a carrier on the floor when the dog, which had been locked in another room, squeezed through a set of French doors and attacked.

The baby's mother, who was outside watching through a window, raced indoors as family members managed to pull the baby free.

<snip>
The dog, a labrador cross, has been placed in a kennel while authorities decide its fate.

1. Poor kid, yet more proof that NO DOG should ever be left alone with an infant.

6. Hell, I don't even trust my cats alone with ME, let alone an infant.

BTW, I also have a dog. He's too lazy and old to actually be harmful to anybody now (hell, he needs help just to stand up most days), but I certainly wouldn't have left him alone with an infant in his younger days.

13. Yeah, there are times that the whole family backs away from our cat.
Sometimes there is no warning, not even a twitch of the tail or a hiss. I think he's still mad we brought a german shephard into the house, and that's been 4 yrs ago.

BTW, Love your animal brood there! Your dog has a great smile :)

5. Notice how I refrained from referencing breed?
I was waiting to see who would mention pit-bulls first. I knew it would be either a tongue-in-cheek reference like this, or someone who hadn't actually read the whole post and began to bash pit-bulls right off the bat.

8. I am being light :)
I'm typically a strong pit-bull defender, so I couldn't be the one to make the joke :)

10. Well, it didn't say what the lab was a cross with, did it? Still...
it all depends on how a dog is raised.

12. Every night as I walk my dog around town, I hear
so many frustrated dogs who do not get to go for a walk. I suspect this is another one.
