Kevin Smiths's Red State
Watching it now, mixed feelings. Not gonna say anything about the movie but if you're like me and think that Waco was NOT a mistake, i.e. knock, knock, we have a warrant, open the door and everyone lives. If the religious nuts at Waco had let the courts decide they would have been alive, the people in that compound killed everyone, their fault. Back to the movie, Michael Parks should be a shoe-in for an academy award!

I don't think Michael Parks will qualify for an academy award
On-Demand announced it was being shown On-Demand the same time it was being released in the theaters. I would think that would disqualify anything to do with the movie. About a decade ago Linda Fiorentino did an amazing role in "The Last Seduction". But for some reason the movie was shown on HBO first and then they showed it in the movie.

7. TLS aired for HBO July then in theaters in October 1994, RS was "released" in theaters in January
The Sundance Film Festival counts as a theater release

4. I read online
that because Smith released it publicly for a week in a theater owned by Quentin Tarentino it will be eligible.

6. I saw it back in March during Red State Tour
I loved it.

great acting by one hell of a cast.

Red State is more of a play on Fred Phelps not Waco.

I'm an avid Kevin Smith and listened to most of his Podcasts. He came up with the idea after watching uncut footage of Phelps from his friend's (Malcolm Ingram) doc "Small Town Gay Bar." Smith was horrified by what Phelps had to say and took it to the next level.

I loved it and eagerly await DVD release
