More Disdain and Hatred towards the Poor.
I have truly under-estimated the right-wing hatred for poor people. When I read this I felt physically ill:

Registering the Poor to Vote is Un-American
By Matthew Vadum

Why are left-wing activist groups so keen on registering the poor to vote?

Because they know the poor can be counted on to vote themselves more benefits by electing redistributionist politicians. Welfare recipients are particularly open to demagoguery and bribery.

Registering them to vote is like handing out burglary tools to criminals. It is profoundly antisocial and un-American to empower the nonproductive segments of the population to destroy the country -- which is precisely why Barack Obama zealously supports registering welfare recipients to vote.

http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/09/registering_the_poor_to_vote_is_un-american.html

The comments are as bad or worse.

From when the Constitution was written until about 1850, only white male property owners could vote. After 1870, former slaves could vote. Then in 1920 we had woman suffrage. In the 1960s, it became illegal to require voters to be literate. The motor voter law was passed in 1995. In 2008 it became de facto legal for Black Panthers to intimidate voters at the polls. Is anyone noticing a trend here? When the country started, voting was restricted to citizens who had a financial stake in small government. Now anyone with a pulse can vote. Eventually, you might have to fight your way into the polling place through a gauntlet of government dependents who will decide if you look like someone who will support big government candidates.

-------------

I believe that the vote should be limited to people that own property or a business. Of course, if a citizen owns several tracts of land or several businesses, he/she is still limited to one vote.

----------------

I've said all along we need LESS people voting. The conservatives should push for poll taxes (if you're not willing or able to pay, then you probably are not willing or able to be informed enough to vote), increase the voting age to 21, no voting for anyone who has received government assistance in the past year, and no sufferage for anyone who cannot read. One person one vote is a recipe for political suicide and the Communist's dream.

1. Jesus was a "redistributionist".

Matthew 18-19:21

About that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?" Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

9. Sounds like there's a lot in the Bible you missed.
Jesus would never have called poor people "lazy" and rich people "hard workers" to begin with.

IIRC, didn't the Apostles give up all their worldly belongings to follow Jesus, depending on the kindness of others for their daily needs?

4. I'm going to bet the farm that his great great granddaddy was a Klansman...
...and as a child, he was christened while wearing a white robe and hood. He's channeling those old KKK dudes who were so scared of black people. Completely insane!
I think this guy needs to be locked in a round rubber room with a straight jacket on.

10. I got news for you
And I am not necessarily talking about the person in this news story, but among native born white Southerners, probably a good many of them have grandparents and great-grandparents who were Klan.

Maybe even in the North too. The Klan was huge in the early 1920's.

8. There is not a democratic nation on Earth that still has the property qualification
Doing that would put us on the level with about Kuwait. No thanks.

Andrew Jackson, BTW, was an opponent of the property qualification. At least for white men, anyway.

11. Typical bad grammar, misusing 'less' when he means 'fewer'. Bad

grammar, imho, usually indicates poor thought.

'woman suffrage' vs. 'no sufferage for anyone who cannot read.'

How about no sufferage for anyone with such poor writing and proofreading skills?
