women should not be in politics. they are too emotional.
my son got a ride to a cross country race with his coach. the coach's wife was along for the ride. did most of the driving in their import vehicle (talked about american made sunglasses). it was a long drive. about 6 hours. one of the other kids was bored so he pipes up..... with a grin.... hey, mrs. ****, did you know edmund is a

democrat.

edmund knew by the kids eyes what he was going to say to this fox news, christian music, woman.

when i picked up son, he started telling me about all the things they discussed and how he held his own. he does a lot of reading. has an interest. and has had some excellent classes and teachers. not to mention the amount of time we discuss in this house.

but what got me the most was the woman telling my son that women are too emotional to be in politics. WTF??? (she doesn't want palin or bauchmann)

what about bohner and his weeping, gw, and gh sobbing in every speech. a whole two term presidency run by an emotionally crippled, low self esteem gw trying to prove something to his father???

i asked son, does she work? ya, a pharmacist.

really? i think if women are oh so emotional and cant be in politics then surely they are incapable of careers such as doctor or pharmacist. when emotions take over, surely they will amputate the wrong arm, or fill an incorrect prescription.

this woman went the whole weekend making snarky digs at son. it isn't going to be pretty when she approaches me at a meet. son doesn't want me to be confrontational, and i won't. but i told him, people like this won't leave it alone.

really, woman? divorced, a son that does drugs, drinks and fights (talked about lack of morality and family values), and a pharmacist, working outside the home.

how do these women buy into this shit.

1. God she's a pharmacist?
I hope she's not one of these won't-give-out-a-pill types. Good for your son.

3. I hope someone told, or someday tells, the other kid
that it's not polite to go outing people's political orientation.

It isn't anyone's business unless I make it their business. There's nothing wrong with it, I'm certainly not 'ashamed' of it, and at times I enjoy a good political discussion as much as anyone. But it's up to me to decide if I want to engage someone that way, and not right for someone else to push it.

I hope that kid gets the message soon.

Otherwise, good on your son. (And I hope he knows better than to do what the other kid did.)

4. If she's going to attack a kid for being from a Democratic family
maybe she needs to find another avocation. I suggest scrapbooking.

Your son is a good kid. It's just sad that he has to learn about these people while he's young.

and dislikes it so. i was surprised the coach didnt stop it. he said he tried, in humor, but couldnt.....

hearing the snarky is what pisses me off.... dont talk to kids that way, and dont talk to my kid that way.

6. The way I see it is that while women may be irrational...
...for a short time every month, men are subject to rapidly changing testosterone levels all the time. It would be nice to have leaders who are sane most of the time.

I mean this tongue-in-cheek of course. Right now all I care about is electing someone who is not an absolute fascist.

And only my wife is allowed to be all over my arse. :P :7

37. i am hearing this more and more
from both genders. feminism is the destruction of all of the western world.

all the ills, and the blame is solely on feminism. amazing.

all feminism is, is allowing this woman to earn her wage, outside the home

17. The woman is a bully.
Not only that but your child could not walk away - he was captured in her car.

I am not sure I could let it go if an adult (and I use the term loosely) bullied my child in that situation. On second thought I know I would definitely not let it go. She needs to be called what she is to her face.

one of the huge issues he has is that he was so much more informed than her, yet she was so condescending. he likes to fight his own battles and has for years. i have to respect that. i hear what you are saying.

but like i said, i can't imagine her NOT approaching me and trying to either minimize it or challenge me in some way.

i have met her briefly, twice, over the last couple years. wasn't too impressed either times.

i hear ya, though

this is out of respect to my son. not cause i dont want to. i am far from being shy or passive

he often has to take on 4, 5, 6 ...10 kids at a time whenever they do have political or religious discussions amongst themselves, in the locker rooms. i hear about that often. there are a couple other liberal kids, and they keep their mouth shut. he never has.

this is not new for him

23. I understand.
So many times people go all around an issue treating it as if it is complicated when it is so simple.

Quietly speaking the words "You are a bully" to her face would be the entire conversation for me.

20. My daughter had a 'confrontation' in a parking lot several years ago, when my granddaughter was five

years old. An old geezer got out of his SUV and came over to my daughter, who had just pulled in. Her back bumper was covered with anti-Bush bumperstickers, etc. The old guy let out a short rant about Kerry and the Democrats, right in front of a five-year-old.

When he was finished, my daughter began to walk away, and my granddaughter turned to him and said "Hey mister, nobody needs a car that big."

Teach your children well...

21. Low self-esteem, probably.
If a woman was able to understand emotion and use it to advance a political career that would properly be called "smart". So,I guess the mother is not in favor of women succeeding in political life? It's kind of tantamount to saying men are too focused on power and force of compulsion, and believe exclusively that might makes right. First of all, it isn't true of all men, or even all Democratic men.

24. I have noticed that RW Libertarian use the same "too emotional" label to slur Liberals.
Edited on Sun Sep-04-11 03:48 PM by Odin2005
Their BS reasoning is that we prefer "touchy-feely" sentiment rather than "caring about the cold logic of economics". :eyes:

This might also explain why RW Libertarians tend to be such misogynistic assholes.

30. What a dumbass
No, men aren't emotional. They start wars and shit with clear foresight and cold-blooded logic. No anger. No hate. In, fact, men in politics clearly don't get angry, or happy, or fall in love or have passions, or love their children or their partners. They never cry, or laugh. They never express enthusiasm. They never grieve. Roboticly, they make it through their day without expressing any emotion at all. They couldn't 'care' less about their country, are not patriotic, or if they are, a kind of logical, unattached patriotism.

Nope. Emotions have never driven men to do a damn thing in all of history. Must be why they more or less run everything, and a damn fine job, if I may say so. Just look at the world around us, peace, prosperity, no one in want or hunger, violence (really you don't get more emotional when demonstrating violence)--a thing of the past. What a bunch of Spock's men are.

Women, of course cry and have vapors if they have to swat a fly. What weak little things we are.

35. no matter how i look at it
i cannot wrap my mind around a woman that would say such a stupid thing. i am looking around me at all the women i know, trying to think of any woman that would be so fuckin out of control do to emotion. i know none.

my sons argument to that was

then there is my mom

i am about as pragmatic and nonemotional as it get. we often chat about how detachment is so very easy. we kinda like it. whereas my overly emotional brother thinks we are missing something in life. meh... who we are.
