The problem isn't the makeup of Congress.
The problem is there is no counter to Republican and corporate ideology and its failure here. Calling yourself left or progressive won't make it so. You have to fight this ideology, not put your own tinkering or version to it. You can't be afraid of appearing liberal or unpopular to a propagandized populace.

1. But do we have any institution to make the fight?
We had one once in unions. The Democatic party has clearly sold them and us out. The future is very bleak indeed.

2. It doesn't appear so. Looks like a job for movement politics.
But the right has so successfully divided Americans that the task is daunting. Mental cues and human empathy are absent from way too many people. I'm just very disappointed that Reagan's principles (or lack thereof) became ingrained in the political party system the way it has.

4. Makeup of congress IS the problem
When we had congress for 2 years great progress was made.
Now progress is stopped.

6. Progress in what area?
Wages, rights, peace, social justice? I only see one victory, getting rid of don't ask don't tell.

7. You missed it?
The economy got a bump from the jobs programs, a financial regulation bill was passed, and a multitude of other great progressive laws were passed by the Pelosi led House. Indeed, it was one of the best two years of progressive legislation to come from congress in a decades.

Now that progress is halted. It makes a big difference when we run congress.
