clumsiness rewrites the meme
the WH just blew whatever hay they could have made from controversy about his speech conflicting with the debate.
with the clumsy and poorly coordinated invitation to the nascar drivers they have turned it from "oh their debate is much more important than what the president is going to say about jobs......riiiiiiight" to "doesnt anyone in this White House know how to schedule a simple meeting?"
:sigh:
does anyone in this White House know how to SCHEDULE a meeting?
setting it up before you blab it to the media......making sure everyone is available.....you know simple stuff like that
someone there must have thrown a birthday party for a child.... right?
someone?anyone?

1. The contrast between Obama's election team and the White House team is pretty stark..
I wonder what happened?

You're late! :boring:

My pledge to myself....

I will vote for any and all Democrats on my ballot. I will research via the Internet per my sample ballot, any propositions, measures, and Judicial candidates listed, in order to fully understand what/whom I will be voting for statewide as well as locally. If I can vote early, I will, in case others need my help on the final day.

In the run up to the election, I will donate, canvass, make call, and write letters to the media and members of Congress that factually informs and positively promotes President Barack Obama, Democrats and policy issues that I support. I will actively do whatever else is in my power to help this President and Democrats win the upcoming elections, such as explaining the alternatives and the views they hold, to those who will listen.

I will not help, directly or indirectly, any candidate from the opposing party. I will not diss the same candidate they diss unless that candidates is also a Republican.

Further, I will not allow myself to be used as a corporate media tool by making it my responsibility to generate negative messaging against our current President, as well as Democrats seeking office. I will leave that job as the focus of the Republican opposition. They have more than enough monied interest and media assistance behind them to do their job without my help.

I will be a passionate partisan through and through, come hell or high water, even as this President pushes bi-partisanship--because I am not the President of all of the people. I respect Pres. Obama's right to call for civility, but I will not follow suit, since I don't see the other side doing the same. I won't judge him harshly for this shortcoming nor his attempt to find common ground, even if I don't like it. I don't have to govern, so I will accept that he believes that he can get very little done unless Congress works together to better our nation at our time of crisis. Therefore, I will not spend my precious energy trying to change him today, since uniting this country was a message he was elected on, even though Republicans have fought this message every step of the way. As a volunteer activist, I simply have bigger fish to fry than to rag on the President for being who he said he was all along.

6. just got off of work
nice pledge
dont see this applying but ymmv
i will spend my pre election time doing much of the same except i will be supporting those for congress who believe the working people of america deserve to have their democratic ideals supported and enforced
i thought you lived abroad ? ifso i have to think i will come into contact with many more voters than you
as an activist i too have bigger fish and if i wished to bore myself to tears (and downright sadden myself to them)i would list up the you tube for you to ignore with all the actual words coming from the presidents actual mouth during the last election where he said so many things that we have never seen addressed.but why post them again? anyone who was seriously looking for the truth has seen them and shaken their head
those blowing smoke and shaking mirrors will never see them no matter how often they are offered.
should i post the one where he says "hold my feet to the fire"?
i took him at his word on that he was claiming to be able to take and respond positively to criticism.

8. that would work if the party continued to function with democratic values..
that should be the goal, imo..values and principles above party ..always..people come and go.... morality, ethics, compassion, caring, human decency endure and are the responsibility of us all

4. Huh?

President Obama can not FORCE The GOP House to vote yes on the Joint Session Resolution - without the resolution being passed Obama can not give a speech to Congress in the House Chambers.

President Obama can not FORCE all the NASCAR guys to show up at the White House if they decline the invite.

Obama is NOT a dictator and Obama does NOT have a magic wand.

So your rant was just a touch misplaced..

7. The Obama administration had already talked to Boehner's office
Edited on Sun Sep-04-11 12:24 AM by Tx4obama

and Boehner had NO objections to the Sept 7th date for the speech.
It was only after Obama sent the request letter that Boehner changed his mind.

So, the blame does not belong at the feet of the Obama staff.

And anytime an invitation is sent to a 'group' of people (such as the NASCAR folks) there is always a chance that not all folks will be able to show up. That is also NOT the blame of the 'staff'.

A while back Meryl Streep was invited to the White House to receive a medal/honor - she had to decline the invite do to filming overseas. There wasn't a huge outrage in the media.

When folks do not show up it is not the fault of The President or his staff.

Shit happens :)

13. president no staff yes
Edited on Sun Sep-04-11 12:39 AM by SwampG8r
before any meeting where the president is going to apply a date and other people are involved
every person affected needs to be informed
thats what a good staff does
a shitty staff sends you to the podium with your dick in your hand naming dates that havent been checked for problems
i wish he had a better staff about half the stupid bullshit i have seen is from bad planning and poor coordination
but i knew he was going to have trouble when he closed ranks with a bunch of DLC trash.

16. Like Carney said: The debate was not an issue when scheduling the speech ...
He said that there will be over 20 GOP debates and the White House is not going to worry about what/when the GOP is doing their stuff when they are setting up their schedule to do the things they need to do.

And why bring up the debate? Boehner said it had 'nothing' to do with the debate.

up about their inability to schedule a meeting. Leaky leaky leaky.

15. Here's a good article regarding the NASCAR guys
Nascar Stars Say No Disrespect For Obama
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/44379847/ns/sports-motor_sports/%27%20rel=%27nofollow

p.s. Sounds like the ALL have busy schedules and it would have been difficult to have found a date that they all could have been there.
Looks like it's only just one more example of non-important fake outrage concocted by the MEDIA and the Obama bashers!

18. I don't fault Obama or staff for the NASCAR thing--they invited 15, 10 will show up.
The ones that don't, that's the way it goes. It was nice of the WH to honor them. Not sure how or why the no-shows made the news.

19. One more thing: Obama/staff have been inviting groups to the WH for years. And scheduling
meetings and speeches for years. I wouldn't let this shit be an issue for you.
