Paul Krugman, Maxine Waters, Jim Hoffa among Sunday morning guests

Paul Krugman will be part of the economic roundtable on Sunday's edition of This Week on ABC, and Christiane Amanpour returns after Jake Tapper filled in for the past two shows. Others in the panel include: Jared Bernstein (former economic adviser to Vice President Biden), Douglas Holtz-Eakin (former director of the Congressional Budget Office under George W. Bush), and Carol Lee (Wall Street Journal White House correspondent). In a theme of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Bob Woodruff will interview the cousin of Fort Hood shooter Maj. Nidal Hasan, and Amanpour interviews a 9/11 widow (whose husband was the Port Authority director) about the 9/11 memorial.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), who recently said the Tea Party should go to hell, will be part of the economic discussion on Meet the Press...the ONE progressive voice alongside the NEOliberal Thomas Friedman (whose newest book is That Used to be Us: How America Fell Behind in the World it Invented and How We Can Come Back), Wall Street Journal editorial page editor Paul Gigot, the centrist founder of No Labels Mark McKinnon, and presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. The next segment of the show will be an interview with Doris and her son about the 9/11 generation.

Unfortunately the Sunday shows are pretty much a right-wing wankfest: Republican Senator Jim DeMint will be the political guest on This Week, and the two guests on Face the Nation tomorrow will be Republican presidential candidates Michele Bachmann and Jon Huntsman. Worst of all, former vice president Dick Cheney will hawk his new memoir In My Time on Fox News Sunday.

On CNN's State of the Union, International Brotherhood of Teamsters president Jim Hoffa will be on to criticize Obama from a labor perspective. Damn, it's been MONTHS since I've seen someone from org'd labor on a Sunday show. After Wisconsin governor Scott Walker signed the anti-collective bargaining bill, Meet the Press included AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka in its February 27 roundtable. That's the latest I can recall. Otherwise, Hoffa is the lone liberal guest, SOTU will also have Sen. DeMint as well as a discussion of national security, Libya, and Syria with Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI, chair of House Intelligence Committee) and Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT, chair of Senate Homeland Security Committee).

And Newsmakers on C-SPAN will have Ohio's Republican governor John Kasich speak in defense of his bill restricting public employees from collective bargaining. The show had Bernie Sanders on Aug. 14 and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver on Aug. 28.
