Pot brownies give office workers unexpected high

VICTORIA — Coffee break brought on more than a caffeine buzz for some Victoria office workers who unwittingly nibbled marijuana-laden brownies this week.

Victoria police said they received a call Monday of a possible poisoning at a downtown office building on Vancouver Street. Three employees, all at once, had been taken to hospital with similar symptoms, including light-headedness, numbness in the limbs and disorientation.

Investigation led to the office refrigerator and some brownies which, it turned out, had been baked with marijuana. Further inquiries revealed all three workers had eaten the baked treats.

The brownies had been brought in by one woman who had discovered them in her freezer at home. Her son had baked the chocolate treats a year ago, stored them in the freezer and forgotten about them.

3. This reminds me of a Nancy Grace episode.
She was railing against some parents who left a YEAR-OLD marijuana-laced brownie in a cupboard and their young child climbed up and ate it and got sick.

The reason the kid got sick was it was STALE FOOD. Leave any food sitting for a year and its not healthy to eat. Whether it was laced with marijuana or not was irrelevant.

But Nancy Grace used the opportunity to bash marijuana, and paint it in a bad light, in her own fascist glee.

7. That happened once at a factory I worked at.
Some simpleton brought a batch in and passed them out. They had to take a couple workers to the hospital- in case you've never eaten one, it's a high wholly different than smoking.

I missed out on the snacks, but being the dope's (so to speak) union rep I was present when the cops began to question him.

Moran.

12. I have, and while it can be freaky, you don't need to be hospitalized because of eating a pot snack.

13. Maybe not, but for folks who are not expecting it, they don't know what's up.
I once knew of a dog who ate some and she couldn't stand up. And I have heard stories of people who just lay on the floor after having some. Effect depends on how big the dose is in the brownies I'm sure.

16. OMG, my roommate made some once
and I ate the batter.

I was able to hold it together for about an hour and a half, but after that I had to go lie down.

Like, I was in a space where going "Uh huh. Yeah. Uh huh." during a conversation was all I was capable of.

19. I ate a cookie once
Didn't feel anything for about 90 minutes, after than I felt I needed to lay down and I slept for 20 hours straight.

21. Any time I discover forgotten items in the back of the freezer
I take some to the office. If nobody gets sick, then I know I don't have to throw it out.

How do YOU test ancient forgotten frozen treats?

:wtf:
