Black Unemployment Is The Highest It’s Been In 27 Years
Overlooked among many of the reports on unemployment numbers that came out today is that African American “unemployment surged to 16.7% in August, its highest level since 1984.” Unemployment among white Americans is lower, at 8 percent.

Whatever the reason it needs to recognized that some communities are in an outright depression.
But don't look this way - the football season is about to start, American Idol is gearing up again, Dancing With The Stars, Gene Simmons is getting married....

4. Well, he might still. Regardless Obama cannot possibly be the sole reason.
Root causes can be traced back to little bush.
But, point taken.
Hopefully there is a corner to be turned soon.

8. Why not?
Bush was blamed for all the ills that befell the country during his presidency, as was Clinton, Bush 1, Reagan, etc.

3. Oh - I don't know. Not sure.
I first heard this from someone in the congressional black caucus, on the news, radio.
Then saw on Think Progress same day.
Even if true, high for everyone in 27 years, the disparity remains alarming.

5. I am not black but I was unemployed in 1984 too

Pretty much the entire year.

And Reagan and the Republicans were proclaiming Morning In America. And a lot of idiots fell for it too. What a horror show.

6. The percentage of blacks in public sector jobs is higher than in the private sector
And currently the public sector is shrinking while the private sector is growing very slowly.
