Dear America
Edited on Thu Sep-01-11 12:19 PM by DearAbby
We have elected people, who seem to care more about being relected, than fixing the problems of this country. We should be outraged, BURNING Fax machines, Phones. WE SHOULD DEMAND BETTER!

What is this shit? They are worried about a DEBATE?? THE ELECTION is more important than what AMERICA IS GOING THROUGH RIGHT THIS MOMENT? WE SHOULD BE SHOUTING IN THE STREETS! But faxing, phone call, will do.

Love
Abby

I know this started out as semi-playful thread, but the more I think about this, the more burned up I get. Boehner is more concerned about the timing of this conflicting with a debate. Doesnt he remember his pledge about Jobs? Number one....Jobs jobs jobs. So here is a President who wants to address this very same number one pledge, address JOBS JOBS JOBS...and he says..."Now isnt the time."? REALLY???

Really?!

Politics and being Relected is more important. America take a back steet, the GOP debate is more important.

GOD DAMN THESE PEOPLE

shit, a fox news loop has just been created.

2. I Certainly AGREE We Should Be Hitting The Streets... But Faxing & Phoning Just
isn't good enough! All of it has been ignored for so many years. I can't tell you how many calls I've made, petitions I've signed, attempts to organize groups and any number of things I've done in the past, and yet here we sit.

It's going to take something REALLY, REALLY big to get any attention! Anything I can do will have to be done on a NATIONAL level simply because of where I live. Florida IS NOT a state that I feel will mount ANY kind of opposition to what is happening. More likely it will go with the flow!

I WILL gladly scrape my limited funds together for something worth while, but simply doing more of the same just doesn't push my buttons anymore. I would have LOVED to have been part of what WI did, but it ain't gonna happen here.

But, I WILL give a huge shout out to any and all that WE MUST MOBILIZE nationally, especially for those of us who live in states that may very well GO RED!

It's very, very scary and I'm not sure D.C. Critters even care about us anymore. Democrats included. All but a very few are even vocal in their dissent against what is happening now! What's even more amazing is the fact that it's mostly the Congressional Black Caucus that's most active and concerned and willing to make their voices heard. A really sad comment, IMO! And I'm a white female!

4. I agree
It appears they can just ignore all other areas of communication. They are not listening to the people. I don't know how long we can hang on while they play their games. America is in crisis, but a god damned debate is more important.

3. Thread Not Getting Much Traction... But This Only Says To Me What I Said
in my comment above. We DO NEED ACTION, but we just don't seem to know how! We need some BIG HITTERS to help us out and lead the way. I don't think it will get done any other way.

APATHY ABOUNDS!

13. This reminds me of something Bill Moyer said
Bill Moyer was speaking in Minneapolis and taking questions from the audience. One of the audience memebers asked, "Where is are modern day Martin Luther King Jr.? We are ready to follow but no one seems to be leading." Bill Moyers response was, "There is nothing stopping you from being that leader."

25. I agree with you.
There are people that are naturally able to captivate the masses. Becoming the leader of a movement requires you to drop your current life and devote all of your time and energy to the cause. If you can't do that then you won't be nearly effective enough. I'm not saying that's what you should do. I'm just saying that is what is required of a leader of a movement. You can't work an 8-5 job and be the leader. You can't be a student to be a leader. You have to deveote 100% of your time and energy to fighting the movement. That is why it is so hard to find a leader today. People have to take care of themselves and their family first. It is not your fault that you have other responsibilities, but if you really want to be a leader. You will have to change.

10. Well, I Guess WE'RE Alone... But I Have No Answers As To Why...
Apathy is all I can think of, or maybe it just DISGUST! I don't understand why we can't get something going, but I do know that I myself have tried before. Got just about the same amount of reaction.

I'm really sorry there are only two of us here. Kinda weird though. Could've been a few more!

12. I Know How You Feel... BTW, I NEVER Use The Word HOPE Anymore!
Not for anything. Just took it right out of my lexicon of words! We're just floating out in a galaxy and seem almost non-existent. VERY depressing, but I've been down so long I don't know which way is up.

Sorry, I couldn't be of more help.

16. People are afraid to stand up and do things
The corporations were brilliant in their strategy. They made it so everyone is in debt over their heads and just barely able to tread water. Now when it's time to fight back, people are afraid to do anything because they need those jobs to make those credit card payments and their home mortgage payments and the car payments and the shcool loan payments. America is in a debt crisis, but it's not the federal debt that is the problem. It's the average american who is indentured to the corporations.

17. This will make you weep too

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1857758

I figured out a way where no one loses any job hours, no time loss from work. It could be done, only Fear is keeping them from standing up. That or the pain isnt that great for them to care. I could just weep.

22. Thanks For The Info... REALLY! I'm Going To See If I Can Find Out More
and maybe get there. Been to D.C. many times for this kind of thing, I think the last one was 2005 though and it didn't get much coverage. I'm going to have to find someone to "pool" with though. Financially it's a stretch for me right now, but I DO want to be there. I will check the link to see what traction it might be getting. Do you know??

Driving will take some time, but flying would probably cost a lot, but I know they usually have places for people to stay that's cheap enough if available. A friend and I stayed with a guy who worked for NPR once and it was free.

Thanks again... WE MUST DO SOMETHING!
