1. I actually recoiled in horror
by what Fox news is spewing about the poor. I had no idea they were demonizing people in this manner. First thing I thought of, was the propaganda the Jews were subjected to before the complete takeover of Germany by Hitler.

Poor people have refrigerators, air conditioners, dishwashers, they were lucky the landlord they are renting from, installed them before they signed the rental lease.

The hatred that is spewed by these people. Do they honestly believe the shit they say? These people live in an alternate reality.

3. They DO believe what they say. They're PURE EVIL.
Hating on poor people is unbelievable. It's a true new low for them to be so blatant about it.

6. That is textbook authoritarianism
Authoritarianism involves supplication and awe for the powerful and contempt and disgust for the weak. In this society rich people (as well as the military and police) are powerful and poor people are weak.

So disgust and contempt for poor people, minorities, labor unions (who represent disadvantaged workers) and supplication for international corporations, the military, police, etc.

In fact if you look at Umberto Eco's traits of fascism you see tons of traits in the contemporary GOP. Granted, the term fascist is an insult but there is something there that people should know about.

I think every one of those traits show up in todays radical right, minus the rejection of capitalism (but they still reject modernism).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Definitions_of_fascism#Umberto_Eco

Umberto Eco

In a 1995 essay "Eternal Fascism",<21> the Italian writer and academic Umberto Eco attempts to list general properties of fascist ideology. He claims that it is not possible to organise these into a coherent system, but that "it is enough that one of them be present to allow fascism to coagulate around it". He uses the term "Ur-fascism" as a generic description of different historical forms of fascism.

The features of fascism he lists are as follows:

"The Cult of Tradition", combining cultural syncretism with a rejection of modernism (often disguised as a rejection of capitalism).

"The Cult of Action for Action's Sake", which dictates that action is of value in itself, and should be taken without intellectual reflection. This, says Eco, is connected with anti-intellectualism and irrationalism, and often manifests in attacks on modern culture and science.

"Disagreement Is Treason" - fascism devalues intellectual discourse and critical reasoning as barriers to action.

"Fear of Difference", which fascism seeks to exploit and exacerbate, often in the form of racism or an appeal against foreigners and immigrants.

"Appeal to a Frustrated Middle Class", fearing economic pressure from the demands and aspirations of lower social groups.

"Obsession with a Plot" and the hyping-up of an enemy threat. This often involves an appeal to xenophobia or the identification of an internal security threat. He cites Pat Robertson's book The New World Order as a prominent example of a plot obsession.

"Pacifism Is Trafficking with the Enemy" because "Life is Permanent Warfare" - there must always be an enemy to fight.

"Contempt for the Weak" - although a fascist society is elitist, everybody in the society is educated to become a hero.

"Selective Populism" - the People have a common will, which is not delegated but interpreted by a leader. This may involve doubt being cast upon a democratic institution, because "it no longer represents the Voice of the People".

"Newspeak" - fascism employs and promotes an impoverished vocabulary in order to limit critical reasoning.

9. All those things FOX listed are relatively inexpensive
They don't have health care, they will work until they die, their children receive an inferior education, they will be significantly more likely to be the victim of crime, but they have a $10 microwave from a garage sale.
