Tea Partied Republican Congressional representatives and senators were great at DODGING Non-Tea Partied “American people” during their August vacation. “Reaching out to the American people” was on their lips, but, definitely, NOT on their agenda.
You probably didn’t hear much about the August, 2011 town hall meetings because media coverage was slim pickings, I guess it was because Non-Tea Partied “American people” DIDN’T provide the ‘money shots’ – displaying guns, yelling racist epithets, waving mustached posters, and shouting insults at non-Tea Partied Congressional leaders. Despite little to non-existent media coverage, I was extremely impressed with the Non-Tea Partied “American people’s” demonstrations and town hall representations in terms of numbers of attendees, CIVILITY and their focused message worded in phrases such as: “Bring back jobs”, “Where are our jobs”, and the chant “What do we want – jobs. When do we want it – now?”
The Tea Partied Congressional Dodge Ball Team played a great OFFENSIVE match during their August, 2011 vacation though. Only 40% of them even bothered to reach out to the “American people” via town halls – a far cry from the hundreds of town halls they held in the anti-health care town hall days. The FEW Tea Partied Congressional representatives and senators that did hold town halls, conducted them by invitation only, by pre-selecting attendees, by charging entrance fees, by confiscating cameras, and by banning videotaping - cameras and videotapes were a required town hall ‘passport’ in the anti- health care days. One Tea Partied Congressional representative invited his constituents to attend his town hall meeting AT AN AIRPORT which was a 6 hour drive from his congressional district and where attendees had to pay to park their cars in the airport parking lot. I kid you not!
Tea Partied Congressional representatives and senators campaigned on job creation; DIDN’T create or pass one job creation bill since coming into office; dodged addressing their job creation campaign promise during their August, 2011 vacation, and Non Tea Partied “American people” weren’t having it. As a result, here’s the August, 2011 Town Hall DODGED Ball Score Board
Tea Partied Congressional Representatives and Senators – 0 Non-Tea Partied “American People” - Priceless!
