Would it be some huge symbolic victory if Obama had fought for a specific day? Would I then be able to say to myself "well, the Bush tax cuts got extended and Obama's jobs plan is trickle down tax cuts, but at least we got to pick the day of the speech."

If some people think Hurrican Irene was hyped, it's nothing compared to the hype of dategate.
