So... "I don't want to hear another speech!" has turned into "Why was the speech moved?!"

This past week, there were multiple threads saying that Obama's speech was irrelevant and worthless and would be too inconsequential to matter.

Now those same people are saying that it is a massive "cave" for a speech they considered too unimportant to watch in the first place to be moved from Wednesday night to Thursday night?

Really?

That's what the ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome) sufferers have come to?

Make up your mind. The speech is inconsequential or it is the most important thing ever and must not be moved under any circumstances.

Can't be both.

1. I think the speech is consequential and should be sooner rather than later...
I'm also optimistic about its contents. Give it now. Why wait?

9. actually it can be both, but I think you know that
the concession to boner is a public relations disaster, a media event that will make the president look bad. That fact is independent of the merits of having the speech at all.

The speech could very well be insignificant, in fact most of these speeches are. The most likely take away from this whole episode is the public back down to boner.

10. These are the same people who voted for a post-partisan and expected absolute resistance.
Totally liberal cabinet, highly progressive appointments, etc.

11. Yes it can be both!!
It can be the most important inconsequential speech he has ever given and don't you dare say any different or I swear I will cry about him moving the speech to Thursday because I just can't take all of these sudden changes anymore.

*Cue the guy who defended Britney Spears a few years ago*

16. Yes. It can be both.
Being upset that Obama has seemed to cave yet again to Republicans has no relation to being skeptical of the policy positions the speech might likely take.

"It" can be a PR problem centering on scheduling and having nothing to do with what might be in the speech.
There can also, simultaneously, be a fear afoot that the speech will move us further to the Right making some wish to not hear it.

The two are seperate.... but can occur simultaneously.

See?

As I have you for dinner!!!

Mueha-ha-ha!!!

Obama is a frickin' genius!
Who else could make Boehner look smaller than he already is than the O-man?
Nobody!!!

The O-man uses a magnifying glass to see his opponents because "objects in the mirror are smaller than they appear" as he leaves them behind in his dust.

Boehner's days are finite!
His glory days are almost over as he becomes more and more irrelevant in the grand scheme of the O-man's total domination over the GO Pee party!!

All they can do is piss and moan!!

Boehner won't even get re-elected next year!!!

13. False dilemma
Obama's got a reputation for caving in to Republicans, in case you haven't noticed. I hate to see him do something yet again that confirms his reputation in that respect. I don't see how this sentiment kindles high expectation for the content of his speech. I doubt if I'll watch.

14. The real question is
Edited on Wed Aug-31-11 10:07 PM by CC
who is it Boehner hates more, the Saints or the Packers since he wants to interfere with the number religion in the USA.Or does he just hate the NFL/football. Least that is how it is being framed around here by people of both parties. Not that anyone around here is egging on that idea or anything.:dilemma: Oh and wondering aloud would he schedule during a golf tourney.

Edit to correct gold into golf. Though not sure it isn't both.

15. It's not our fault they can't even get a routine something as routine as scheduling a speech right.
Is it important? No. Is it a pattern? Yes.
