WHY did Obama choose September 7th in the first damned place?
Surely he knew, or someone did, that there was a debate going on. I'm not bashing, I'm just really freakin' confused. Why choose THAT date & time, then confirm that it was agreed upon, then back down??

Was it a giant fuck-up by spokespersons and assistants??

2. Because he can schedule whenever he wants!
And if the assholes say no... Let them. Schedule a press conference at that time.

3. So in 2012 we have a choice
we can vote for a President who does whatever the repubs want or we can just cut out the middleman and vote republican.

I'm disgusted.

4. He's the f*cking President! He can choose the day he wants!
The only people who are bothered by Obama picking this day are people who are worried that by doing so, he will distract from the Rethuglican Zombie Show. THEY are the people who made the scheduling error, not Obama.

So F*CK 'Em!

6. Strategy. His post speech will erase all of the stupidity spewed the night before.
And he will command a larger audience. Also he's letting it be known he has a jobs plan even before the GOP debate begins, instead of looking like he just made one up because of the GOP debate.

That's what I'm hoping
They'll have their debate knowing that he's following them the next day, and will try to out-crazy one another to compensate. The viewers will be burned out on sound-bites by the time it's over.

7. It wouldn't surprise me to hear he did it to dis Perry. I actually HOPE
that's why he did it. I think he accomplished his gol anyway. Boner looks like a first grader, and the Prez will be heard nationally too because the NFL game begins at 68:30PM...well after his speech will be over.

8. It's a good point
If this speech was going to change anything, why didn't he give it before he and Congress took off on vacation?

9. It was equally stupid to do it before the 9/11 10 yr rememberances
He gets (at most) 2 days of news coverage before the MSM goes wall to wall 9/11.

Its almost as if the WH only wants a short term bump from anything he proposes.

I dont know who is advising him on his political timing to maximize his message in news cycles, but he needs better advice.

10. Purely tactical
He'll get more attention. Adds a little pre-carnival heat.

I can't say it was a bad move, but it could have played out better.

11. The fact is
the Mepublican debate is a dog and pony show for one political party put on by a tv network so they can make money. Why in the hell should the President of the United States have to consider that when planning to address a joint session of Congress on the pressing need for jobs in this country. That's the whole problem with the Mepublicans with them everything is politics. I would suspect Obama and his people didn't consider the Mepublican debate all that important I know I don't.

12. It makes it look like he was trying to pick a fight with the Republicans, then backed down.
If he or his people didn't know about the date of the debate, then that was simply stupid.
