6. i have a question for a Vermonter ....
what is it about Vermont topography that made it susceptible to such catastrophic flooding?

I was out of power for 3 days and living in a news vacuum. But when power returned, and i started catching up with the news I was utterly shocked by what had happened in Vermont. It was just horrible. My heart goes out to all of you.

7. lots of rivers and creeks, lots of hills and mountains
and lots of water already in the ground. We also had serious flooding in late May- though nothing nearly as bad as this. It's pretty shocking. Thanks for caring.

14. It is amazing the force that water can put on
In training, to make the point, we used half inch hoses.

Suffice it to say ankle deep water, fast enough, can make you lose your footing.

Once that enters the imagination... it is easy to comprehend the force involved. Some of those raging rivers are putting on tons of pressure per square inch...
