DeMint vows to block Obama's speech...
Sen. Jim DeMint vowed Wednesday to try to block President Barack Obama from addressing a joint session of Congress on the same day as a Republican presidential debate next week.

Obama could learn something from the GOP, DeMint reasoned, in adding his voice — and his vote — to a growing chorus of Republican objections.

“The president should pick another night. I’m planning to watch the Republican primary debate … and the president should watch it, too,”

The iconic South Carolina conservative said. “If he has a jobs proposal, put it in writing, give us a cost estimate, and send it over. I want to read the bill, not listen to talking points off a TelePrompter. If he insists on playing politics by picking the night of the GOP debate, I will object to the session.”

A lone determined senator can tie the chamber in knots for days, and the House and Senate must both pass a concurrent resolution to allow for the president to speak to a joint session.

Forget this DeDipshit and his orange sidekick
They'd rather be watching the tv machine and
playing petty politics than creating jobs.

Mr President, take your jobs speech to the American people !!!!
Take it to the Mall.

19. He'd have to go big to take it to the American public.
The limp half-measures hinted at thus far aren't going to impress very many people outside the Beltway.

6. forgo the joint session of Congress
I invited the Congress to join me in addressing the American people about JOBS but they were too busy today to worry about the American job market and the American unemployed. Thats not too surprising because they have also been too busy in the last 18 months to work on creating jobs: there were more important things like your lightbulb choices which demanded their attention.

7. if the repukes don't let him take it to congress, then he should take it to the people
and make sure the people know that congress refused to come together and work on a jobs bill because politics are more important to them than solving the country's problems. After his speech, he should open phone lines, so Americans can call in and ask questions about his proposal.

Even republicans are getting tired of the congress refusing to solve any of the nations problems.

8. Why the DoJ failed to investigate the fraud in the ...
.... democratic senatorial primary in 2010 in S.C. I will never know.
DeMint and company will never play nice. If the speech was on the 8th
"they" would have a problem w/ it ..... If Obama did it from the White House
"they" would complain that the President doesn't respect the Congress.

The President should do it from the National Mall and invite everybody to see it ...

No more fucking around w/ these assholes.

20. Scratch just beneath the surface and you'll find a lively stream
of anti-semitism also. Sure, it's disguised by political support for the Likud. But when your teleology posits that only 144,000 Jews will ascend to heaven at the Rapture, while the remainder are condemned to remain on earth and suffer deaths of excruciating agony, I don't know what else you can call it other than anti-semitism.

10. Yet another example of why this country is so F'ed. "A lone determined senator can tie the
chamber in knots for days, and the House and Senate must both pass a concurrent resolution to allow for the president to speak to a joint session."

Our country was founded in the belief (I think) that we would have intelligent and rational members of congress, for the most part. I don't think the founders envisioned a two party system run by corporate America with greed and war as the centerpiece of Americas' claim to fame. A party that can only say NO. The failing intelligence of many congress critters and the bribery.

Now, it's a F'en crisis and circus on which night our president can speak. This country looks/sounds like absolute fools to the international community.

<snip>
So, on Turnip Day, Truman called their bluff. In a brilliant political move, Truman relied on a little-used clause in the Constitution that permitted presidents to call Congress into special session "on extraordinary occasions."

On the campaign stump, Truman reminded the public: "That Congress never did anything… but they tried to sabotage everything. And if you people stay home this time like you did in 1946 (when Republicans were elected), you'll get just what you deserve."

He can call one or both houses.
