I have to admit, I am really getting tired of people who complain and complain about corporations and then run out to buy every new piece of crap that they offer. Do you want them to change?? Boycott their goods. Since most of their stuff is made in China, we won't be putting our American workforce out of business. You really don't need a TV in every room, with that new 48 inch flat screen in the middle of your living room. I don't ever watch TV anymore, and my life has improved tremendously!!! I can see movies on netflix, and don't have a cable bill anymore. I don't buy new things most of the time: I buy used things or new things at auctions. I just got a 60 inch propane heating fireplace with a gorgeous wooden mantle for $175 at an auction. I buy old kitchen goods - plates, glasses, pots and pans. They are charming and/or very well made. I have an i-phone, but it is 2 years old - and Apple makes their stuff in China, too. Really bothers me. I have a Macbook, too, so why do I need an i-pad??? I am not liking Apple, why would I give them one thin dime now, when I have what I need and I don't like them. Dell even has their service overseas, so I stopped buying them two years ago. Plus, they get wrecked by viruses within 6 months.
My point is, that there are lots and lots of ways to "stick it to the man," but they entail Americans changing their ideas about what they actually need to buy. We really need very little to be happy. And much of what you use for entertainment can be gotten at the public library.
Just a thought. I do this, and feel that I am doing my share in avenging the jobs that corporations shipped overseas.
