Will the UN and NATO intervene to prevent a bloodbath in Libya?
Edited on Wed Aug-31-11 01:41 PM by Warren Stupidity
As the tables have turned, the "rebel" forces are preparing a "final assault" on the city of Sirte. It is likely that casualties will be very large. This is almost exactly the situation Benghazi faced when the Planetary Plutocrats demanded armed intervention avert a bloodbath.

I'm guessing no.

1. I know in advance it will not change whatever, but I'll write it anyway.
The pro-gadhafi's lost their bloodbath, and all they have to do now is stop fighting for him, lay down their weapons, and wait to see if and when gadhafi will pop up as a candidate for the upcoming elections...

Although, I doubt he will do... The Hague wants him first... and not just The Hague.

3. Uh, no.
If you really think that Qaddafi would have simply said "okay" and leave the people in the rebelling towns alone, after he had ordered his military units to purge the towns and slaughter the inhabitants, I think you're putting far too much faith in the benevolent nature of a murderous dictator.

4. They had better not. The last of the Gaddafi loyalists must be smashed.
If the "loyalists" want to avert a "blood bath," they can surrender first.

8. Right. You just point us at the "rebels", and we get to summarily execute them.
The UN said so!

12. It is very interesting that some are almost wishing the rebels would commit massacres
just to have a talking point.

Your blood bath did not happen in Tripoli and will not happen in Sirte.

16. Just like in Tripoli?

17. I'm not defending Gaddafi.
He is a bastard.

Now riddle me this: Do two massacres make a right?

18. uh no.
I merely am speculating, along with others, that this is what is going to happen. The question is why is one potential bloodbath intervention worthy and another not? If there is no intervention and no massacre, then the question is moot. I do not wish a massacre on anyone, even if it gains me a talking point. If it doesn't happen, that would be a good thing.

21. Sure. Thats part of the plan.
You can't set up the corporate offices,
or fix a "fair" election without "peacekeepers" on the ground.

The plan for Libya is/was the same as Iraq.
It WILL be turned into a Free Market HELL,
with the Global Corporations, the Global Banks, and the IMF owning EVERY-FUCKING-THING,
especially the Oil.

I pity those who believe the hype that THIS was a Humanitarian Intervention.
They have NO knowledge or understanding of the history of Western Military Interventions in the Middle East over the last 60 years.

After All,
Freedom Bombs are NOT "FREE".

You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their excuses.

Solidarity!
