Edmonton salon ad irks family violence groups

An online ad for an Edmonton hair salon is provoking angry responses from family violence groups and calls for a boycott from social media users.

The ad pictures a well-coiffed woman with a vicious black eye sitting on a couch. Behind her stands a menacing man proffering a diamond necklace.

The ad reads: "Look Good In All You Do."

Fluid Hair began the ad campaign about a year ago, but the controversy hit the mainstream media after the ad was discovered by bloggers this week.

I've heard that Canada has a law against inciting hatred. Can this salon be prosecuted for doing so?

I thought she looked like an unkempt poodle and that alone would have discouraged me from seeking their services. Glamorizing violence against women is just plain horrifying.

The set is butt ugly, too.

These people have a contempt for women, no taste in sets, and do lousy hair. They'd be dead last on my list of possible salons if I had a hair emergency while traveling through Canada.

5. Not acceptable...

I've got a sometimes sicko and pervy mind BUT...never for violence...or kiddy shit...or some other stuff.

Hope the salon gets some picketing and stuff...need to make sure that they know
that there are consequences for putting out garbage like this.
