UPDATE on a story from last night
the woman who called CNN that they were trapped in upper state new york...

Personnel in a state police helicopter on Monday rescued 21 people who had been stranded by post-Irene floodwaters in a Prattsville, New York, house, a local official said.

The group was stranded at a house that was cut off when all the bridges near it were washed out after torrential rains flooded homes and businesses and left the Catskill Mountains town of Prattsville largely cut off from the outside world.

GOOD WORK for all involved.

2. Oh, good!
I was watching CNN when she called.

I figured they probably had to wait until it got light.

7. Great news indeed
I saw video of the floods in New Jersey and the devastation in Vermont.
Irene has left massive damage for several states - many many bridge and roads have washed away in Vermont in their worst ever flood in over 80 years.

Hype was really the wrong choice of word.

8. It will take a while for me to get over it was hype (tm)
and it is a RW meme to boot.

Granted it happens every time... if all the work pans out lower death and destruction, it was hype... if none was done and thousands die... where was the government? That is the other problem. This moring MSNBC interviewed the LT. Governor of Vermont, after going over the serious litany of needs... he was asked if it bothered him that NYC was covered and not Vermont. He said, we are a very small small state... and now we are getting the coverage we need, thank you.
