If you've ever wondered what an unconscious, evil fuck dreams about post-surgery...

Mr. Cheney’s long struggle with heart disease is a recurring theme in the book. He discloses that he wrote a letter of resignation, dated March 28, 2001, and told an aide to give it to Mr. Bush if he ever had a heart attack or stroke that left him incapacitated.

And in the epilogue, Mr. Cheney writes that after undergoing heart surgery in 2010, he was unconscious for weeks. During that period, he wrote, he had a prolonged, vivid dream that he was living in an Italian villa, pacing the stone paths to get coffee and newspapers.

1. Hanna Arendt's phrase about "the banality of evil" comes to mind & horrifies so much the more
for its ordinariness.

7. 'The banality of evil' yes that describes, not just Cheney perfectly,
but a whole society that tolerates these evil war criminals walking among us, continuing to enrich themselves from their crimes.

They are like rats crawling out of their holes all with their 'memoirs' written, no doubt by ghost writers, no one can tell me any of these people are capable of putting coherent sentences together, hoping for more profits from the crimes they appear to genuinely think of as 'justified'.

I don't know if there has ever been a War Criminal before who so blatantly and proudly confessed to it in public. But the fact that Cheney knows he can do so, shows how depraved our society is, how far along the road to evil the American people themselves have traveled along with the War Criminals.

Which is why he can boast about his War Crimes. We the people have given him permission to do so.

9. You're right, sabrina, it purely does put the LIE to anything else we say about ourselves. Not only
to what we say about us and the rest of the world, but also what we say about the value of our own.

No wonder there have been so many suicides in our military.

2. It was the same dream Vader had while he was stuck in that little TIE Fighter
after the first Death Star was destroyed and had to make it to some far away Star Destroyer.

5. You know, I never did understand
why the Emperor did not fire him after that debacle.

He had him kill Count Dooku for far less.

11. Not to get all Star Wars geek, but...
The failure was Grand Moff Tarkin's. He was the commander of the Death Star, and failed to properly defend it. Like the designers of the Death Star, he failed to see any danger in fighters and didn't launch his own fighters to intercept the Rebels before they got to the Death Star and could hide in the trenches and other surface features. Since Grand Moff Tarkin died when the Death Star exploded, it was a little late to punish him.

And Vader's tie fighter was an advanced model with a hyperdrive. He didn't have to stay in it very long.
