Lena Baker was pardoned long after her death

The only woman ever to die in Georgia's electric chair is receiving a headstone at a dedication ceremony, more than 65 years after she was executed.

The dedication comes amid renewed attention about Baker's plight. A DVD of the film "The Lena Baker Story" was also released this month.

Ms. Baker was an African-American women who shot and killed a white Mill Owner who she claimed was holding her as a sex slave. An all-white, male jury found her guilty after six hours.

Racism plus misogyny--could there be a more potent combination for hate to be focused? I hope there is some kinder afterlife for Ms. Baker. I hope she will sense her vindication if that is at all possible.
