Overwhelming support for down and out father

A father down on his luck is thanking NBC2 viewers for the new start to his life.

No one would take Sharod Jones and his two daughters into a shelter because most shelters won't accept men and children together.

He came to Southwest Florida with the promise of a job, but the job fell through.

After the story ran on Thursday night, the calls came pouring in to help Jones and his family.

One business owner reached out to provide Jones with free housing, free daycare, and a job.

but what if the tv station never got his story publicized? There are so many people in desperate situations who go unnoticed, quietly suffering. It's wrong. This is why we need a strong social safety net.
