It will be interesting to see how Tea Partied “government needs to stay out of our affairs” Republican Congress persons and Governors will react after Hurricane Irene especially since Tea Partied House representatives already passed bills to CUT spending for flood control and coastal emergency programs. It is my fervent hope that the government won’t have to provide post-Irene relief in a major fashion, but just in case, let’s see how many Tea Partied elected officials suddenly want to make government their bosom buddies! Tea Partied anti-government Representative Eric Cantor, already, asked the President for GOVERNMENT funds for earthquake relief in Virginia, then – Cantor had the nerve to come out with a statement that any government funds used for hurricane relief should be “matched with spending cuts from government programs”! Leave it to Eric to act the fool when he’s pushing for those Tea Party votes.
I’ve got some interesting tidbits about how Tea Partied Congressional representatives reached out (?!?!) to the “American people” during their August vacation, but we can chat about that after Irene. In the meantime, be prepared. Stock up on drinking water, batteries, ice, non-perishable food items, fill your bathtubs with water for use with toiletry measures; place your important documents in plastic bags and store them in a secure place, stay away from glass doors and windows during the storm, and if you’re advised to evacuate, please do so. We’ve got lots of the “American people’s” business to attend to after the storm.
Keep safe.
