"Taverner, why the heck are you a Socialist?"
Let me share a quote with you. It is from Alan Moore, the Graphic Novelist who wrote 'From Hell,''League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' and 'V for Vendetta.'

The man is the Liberal's liberal.

He calls himself an anarchist, but his argument is very unique: it is that we are in a state of, and have been in a state of, Anarchy for a while.

Read:

"The main thing that I learned about conspiracy theories is that conspiracy theorists actually believe in the conspiracy because that is more comforting. The truth of the world is that it is chaotic. The truth is, that it is not the Jewish banking conspiracy, or the grey aliens, or the twelve-foot reptiloids from another dimension that are in control, the truth is far more frightening; no-one is in control, the world is rudderless."

I've known quite a few government and ex-government employees over time. All of them would agree with this quote. Add that I used to sell to the Federal, Non-Intel 'space.' I saw what goes on at the Federal level, which is the same that goes on at any civilian/private level. Which means, yes, we're fucked.

Not because bad people have gamed the system, but because EVERYONE has gamed the system.

Socialism is the only philosophy that solves that.

Wait - let me rephrase that. Socialism is the only philosophy of government and economy that can solve that. Just having socialism does not mean equity or jurisprudence. Just ask anyone who lived under Qaddafi or Mubarak.

Still, the fact that you can open for regulations key roles in the production and deployment of capital, not based on greed but by merit, is what makes me a Socialist.
