Is Mississippi on the verge of electing its first black governor?

heard this morning Johnny DuPree won the run off for the dem nomination.

Anyone know if he has a chance?

4. Mississippi had Democratic governors post-Reconstruction until 1992

And pretty much all of the pre-Civil War era as well.

5. Bryant could always be caught with a farm animal of some type.
Otherwise... the chances are pretty slim.

The only poll I've seen comparing the two is a few months old, but DuPree trailed by more than 30 points.

The prognosticators (Cook/Sabato/etc) all have the race as either likely or safe R.
