Are we better or worse off today than in....
(insert year here).

This thread (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x4969437) got me thinking:
Are we better or worse off today than in...?

Poverty rates (as a percentage):

Unemployment rate:
http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/data/UNRATE.txt

Homeownership

Median income

College Enrollment rate (of recent high school graduates)

High School Graduation rate:

Top Tax Rates

30 year mortgage rates

(add your statistical graph as we move along).

=============================================================

In some ways we're better off but in others we are worse. Draw your own conclusions from the data provided.

1. Worse.
Don't expect either party to care about you or your needs.

2. Unrec. The "Are we better or worse off today than..." phrase is a rhetorical tool used against
incumbents. It oversimplifies everything into a sound bite. Bottom line: We are better off with Democratic elected leaders than Republican ones. Vote accordingly.

4. That's it? Not going to promote some unelectable candidate or some favored politician from 75 years
ago?
