The tide is turning. 4 Oreilly guests school him on taxing the rich.
First up were Ben stein and Wayne Rogers. Then Mary Catherine Ham and Juan. All told him the same thing. NO RELATIONSHIP between taxing the rich, and economic growth. No possibility that Obama could have waved a wand. Spending money to heat up economic activity is necessary. I was stunned.

It is the end of hair on fire idiocy. Tea Party has shown itself as saboteurs and luddites. Republicans, afraid of them, and unable to think their way out of a paper bag, will now seem weak. We need to slam, and slam hard. The Reagan legacy, trickle down/voodoo economics. Two santa scam. Tax cuts increase revenue, all the crapola. Slam it all. Loudly and repetitively.

The debate is ours. The tea party thinks they won it and will act with breathtaking over reach. The Republicans will tell them to sit down and shut up. They will see that they dont really exist, as a party or solid structure. Just ersatz grass roots. Chimera of populism.

Now should be the rhetorical push. Slam them hard.

3. You dont understand. Juan is the houseboy, Ham is right wing, So is Wayne Rogers and Stein.
All of them told him point blank. Ben Stein said he would eat OReillies shoe if he could find corroboration for his assertion that tax rates affect economic growth.

5. Sadly I can... but not in a way that O'Reilly
or Stein will like.. HIGHER tax rates of the upper crust lead to higher economic growth...

There... do you think he'll want my smelly shoe?

6. Yes, it is keynesian. Tax the rich and spend it on infrastructure.

8. Goes a little beyond that
if you tax them, instead of parking their money they will invest it... to avoid uncle sam... ergo creating economic activity.

This is what we have seen every time we have a tax increase. Now we have a capital strike, so 2% will not be enough for this and sadly I don't think DC has the stomach for 20%.

But yes, they will still try to keep it out of uncle Sam's hands but they will do it by increasing economic activity. The only problem, potentially, is that we are in a globalized economy... so I fear this taxes shtick might have to be a little more global, less they transfer those funds to tax shelters.

15. +1
I have been trying to tell everyone this and no one seems to get it. Increasing taxes encourages investment because you can right off investment as "business expenses"

17. Exactly. The strength of high marginal rates is not "soaking the rich"...
...it is how they change the financial decisions made to not get soaked.

2. I cannot believe I just posted that. I am sorry, how did I become so cynical?
That was shitty on my part, I hope the tide is turning. This is going to be a long, hard, heavy way back to great. By great I mean, great for the majority of people living in the US who are currently down on their luck.

7. Thanks for wading through the septic tank to find the diamond ring so the rest
of us could hear the good news.

Would have liked to see the old loofah's face, not that his neanderthal followers could understand the point.
Takin' one for the team!:applause:

You can fast-forward to the part where he talks to his guests and save yourself from enduring his stupid Talking Points.

except to say you got me running to the online dictionary twice: "luddites" and "chemise." I'd heard the terms before, just never bothered to actually look them up. Sorry, carry on. ;-)

20. Yes, the debate is ours but I think that the tea party did in fact win the debate despite that
since we had nobody on our side willing to make the stand for higher taxes.

21. Is There Any Video Of This Exchange Anywhere?
I want to post it on my Facebook page, but I don't want to promote O'Really?'s show by giving the link listed above. I'm looking for a clip of JUST the exchange discussed in the OP. Does anyone know where I could find it?
