2. Democrat: a liberal that doesn't try to imitate right wingnuts, nor kowtow to them, nor
hold their views.

5. I am a Democrat
who prefers to vote for the vertebrate species of Democrats as opposed to the invertebrate species of Democrats we all-too-often get.

7. To me, "Democrat" means nothing more than someone who is registered in the Democratic Party
But then, I'm a left-leaning independent who hasn't voted for a Republican since about 1980, but I can't say that I've always supported the Democrats choice, either. I'm maybe a centrist-lefty, as I don't resonate with the extremes of either the left or the right, and find myself generally more at home with Dem principles and policies but believe in rationality, reasonableness and a degree of compromise. More of a pragmatist than idealist.

And DU is still my home and I love all you guys and gals!

12. Question for you:
What would be an extreme left leaning view??
Not trying to argue, just trying to fix in my mind what an extreme left view would look like

13. Democrats are those who have joined the party, or who vote for Democrats almost all the time.
Your definition of Democrats as "haven't read enough" is insulting and condescending.

18. I don't think so
Democrat for life doesn't mean they "Read the Details" of the issues.

I firmly believe once a person begins the read the details as in "The Devil is in the Details" of many of the Bills in the legislature, and they begin the formulate opinions and political positions, most people will naturally swing to a more progressive position.

How you interpret that to be "insulting and condescending" is entirely on you
