Bob Hanner of Parrott against Rep. Gerald Greene of Cuthbert and forces Rep. Chuck Sims of Ambrose to take on Rep. Tommy Smith of Nicholls.
They made the move to protect their political futures. With the GOP in charge of redistricting, it stood to reason that Republican legislators would get more favorable treatment than Democrats when the once-a-decade redistricting came along.
What they didn’t count on was demographics. South Georgia simply lost so much population compared with the rest of the state between 2000 and 2010 that Republican House leaders can’t protect everyone.
South Georgia House seats have to go, and there aren’t enough Democratic lawmakers left in the region to serve as targets.
I LOVE IT! Those pigs deserve to be ousted! I fight hard to get dome dems elected in this insane state, and although all these guys are from So. Ga. and I'm in No. Ga., it still ticked me off that they switched. I hope they ALL LOSE!
