I think nothing pisses me off more than listening to these GOP dickwads calling the President "Obama...
and not prefacing it with PRESIDENT or Mr. Obama.

Disrespectful fuckwads, disrespecting the President and the office.

God forbid we called Bush Bush without the President preface, they made enough of a stink about the flag pins.

Assholes.

4. Of course when referring to one of their own it's -
"Mr. Speaker", (Newt) "Madame Governor" (Palin), etc.

They have no shame.

7. Bush. Bush. Bush.
I never called him 'President' Bush ... for many reasons.

I often called Clinton 'Clinton'.

And often I refer to President Obama as 'Obama'.

What's the big deal?

But is not appropriate for office holders and office seekers.

25. Because it is objectifying and dehumanizing

Referring to people as if they were things is impolite.

It's surprising this needs to be pointed out.

29. "Mr. Bush" when he was president-
was what I tried to use. Did you call Pres. Clinton "Clinton" when he was in office? I didn't. I don't recall many politicians commonly refering to "Bush" when he was in office. They may have in personal conversation, but not usually in their media events- Many of the republicans do it openly and often. It's a sign of disrespect and an attempt to devalue him. imo

9. The respect differential is staggering. In 2004, I was banned from Kerry's forum. Why?
Because I called Bush a liar.

I was told that it was ok to point out Bush "had lied," that a certain statement was a lie, that he was lying when he said a specific thing, but I wasn't allowed to call him a liar. It's absurd.

No matter how dignified our side is, the other side will continue sleazing through the universe -- and continue, falsely, claiming that our side has been doing it too.

Lots of people on DU never add President to Obama. So, I'm not sure your objection makes a lot of sense.

offensive. I don't recall them saying "Bush" when referring to GW. It's amazing how disrespectful people are to the Pres.

And WRONG.

Not elected.

32. Congresspeople and Senators did this????
Publicly? I must have missed that. I know we did that here, but when Bachmann does it for the media, when she calls him a socialist and refers to him as Obama- knowing that her words are being spread far and wide??

I don't recall that with Mr.Bush. Maybe I'm just blocking it out. It's possible.

:hi:

Game. Set. Match. right there.

I call people "President" who deserve the term. Installed by "Mrs. 5 to 4" and fixed by relatives in high places is a corporate coup, not an election.

very same thing.

We can see President Clinton referred to as "Clinton" right on the very DU.

What is the difference?
