Michelle Bachman's work as a "tax lawyer" exposed...
On one of this morning talk shows, it was pointed out that she was not a "tax lawyer" - she worked for the IRS! She was a tax collector, not a tax cutter.

I wonder how long that little tidbit will stay in her bio? :-)

4. Well, she really wasn't a collector either.......
...she just kinda took a couple of cups of coffee to some IRS auditors once. But...... they were on offical business, so she did kinda help....sorta. I'm sure she feels like she's being misunderestimated, being a multi-tasker and all.

6. It is extremely important that we get that out there!

It isn't so terrible that she worked for the IRS. But she has not said much about it, so it makes you wonder about what else she doesn't talk about.

11. Like Marvin Manypenny?
Rather than taking money from the hands of the middle class to pay for a large, overbearing federal government, I believe in letting hard-working taxpayers keep more of what they earn,'' she says on her congressional website. "In my work as a former federal tax attorney, I saw firsthand that our nation's tax laws are hard to understand and undermine the country's prosperity by imposing needlessly harsh penalties on work, savings, and investments.''

Tell that to Marvin Manypenny, a Native American activist in Minnesota who failed to pay taxes on three years of wages totaling $30,650. Bachmann took him to federal court in 1992.

Manypenny worked at the Youth Project, described in court records as "a public foundation with a 17-year history of building citizen participation organizations around the country committed to social justice and peace.'' The resident of the White Earth Indian Reservation contended he was exempt from income taxes because of the April 8, 1867 land treaty between his Chippewa Indian ancestors and the U.S. government. He met Bachmann briefly in the federal court building in St. Paul.

"She was very -- how do I put this? -- haughty and curt,'' the 64-year-old Manypenny told National Journal in a telephone interview. "I tried to state my contentions to her and it was like talking to a brick wall.''

9. I don't know why you put "tax lawyer" in quotes.
The IRS has tons of lawyers working for them. And yes they are lawyers just as much as any other lawyer is. I don't know what Bachman's specific duties were but she was a lawyer -- a lawyer who worked in our tax court system.

12. I understand that point and I'm sure it will be used against her.
But I was just making the point that lawyers who work for the IRS are lawyers just as much as any other specialty.

13. But....
I don't know for sure but I would guess that Bachman wanted people to think she was a "tax lawyer" working for the people against the IRS? :-)

16. Remember, the question David asked her was "What legislative achievements qualify u to be President?...
And her answer was, "I'm a mom, wife, and I used to be a tax lawyer." In other words, absolutely nothing.

That's her real vulnerability, especially in a general election.
