Is Anybody Else Out There Sickened By The Thought Of Michelle.......
Edited on Sun Aug-14-11 12:27 AM by global1
Bachmann or for that matter any Repug winning the presidency? I listened to these Repugs running and they just turn my stomach. I had a real hard time living through the BushCo pResidency and celebrated at Grant Park in Chicago when Barack Obama won the Presidency. I just can't bear the thought of a Repug back in that position again in 2012.

Rick Perry is like Bush 43 reinvented. Romney is a complete doofus that I don't believe could handle the strains of the presidency. Pawlenty is just Casper Milquetoast. Michelle Bachmann is a complete lunatic. Santorum - well google Santorum. Newt is just a joke. Right down the line I just couldn't see any one of the Repug candidates as a president.

I know that I'm not totally satisfied with the Obama Presidency - but at least I could sleep at night knowing that he's in charge. I'm sickened and totally freaked out by the thought or even the slightest possibility that a Repug could be back in that office.

We have to do everything in our power to not let that happen. And if we were smart - we'd be sure that the Dems won back the House and retained the Senate in 2012.

3. Hey now - credit where credit is due!
He may be a hateful snake, but you have to give him credit for perfecting the Hugh Heffner 'lean on the bar' pose during the debate.

2. Absolutely agree.
And for a woman who recently doubled down on her opposition to raising the debt ceiling, using the absurd spin that the S&P downgrade was validating her stance, to win even a relatively meaningless straw poll is especially terrifying. I'd like to think that she's one of the GOP candidates who couldn't win against Obama no matter what but if she is the nominee I'll be sweating bullets on Election Night no matter what.

We may not all be as excited as we were to vote in 2008, but there is PLENTY to lose if a Republican gets in.

5. Republican policies are generally disastrous.
Many of their policies are grounded in false, sometimes even supernatural, assumptions.

9. keep in mind that the fact that it's a loser crop for the republicans is a good indicator that
obama's a winner. his politics aren't nearly liberal enough for me, but i recognize that he's positioning himself well for a re-election.

generally speaking, serious and solid candidates are smart enough to avoid uphill battles, and running against any incumbent is always an uphill battle, nevermind the various factors obama has going for him, such as bagging bin laden, being capable of great charisma (not so much lately, but i'm sure he can bring it back for the campaign), and being able to claim some landmark legislation (for better or for worse, politically speaking, passing major legislation is far better than not being able to pass major legislation).

the losers show up for the hard fights because the know they'd lose early against a strong same-party candidate, so they show up for the fights where everyone expects them to lose. they battle each other for the top loser spot, then run a just-show-up-and-hope-the-other-guy-self-destructs campaign.

remember mondale's campaign against reagan? i mean, i liked mondale, i voted for mondale, and the world and the country would have been far better off with him as president instead of four more years of reagan. however, it was obvious that he was no match against reagan when it came to campaigning, and that his only hope was a complete fall-down by reagan.

so we should take it as a good sign that the crazies are fighting amongt themselves for the right to lose against obama. all we have to do is hope obama doesn't self destruct.

11. I am soooo jealous !!! But I am happy for you :)
I would have loved to have been at the celebration at Grant Park.
I grew up in Illinois (hour and a half south of Chicago), moved to Texas 35 years ago.
Had an organizer pass to see Obama here in Houston in 2008 but became ill and wasn't able to get out of bed the day of the rally ;(
I am hoping that I'll get a chance during this campaign to see him :)

12. I think you are wrong on two counts
parry and romney could handle the presidency
we would just not like what they would do to the country

the rest are weak and empty inside ....... just words repeated until they sound like they know what they are doing

15. I'm not sure - now don't freak out. I'll explain
During the 8 years of pResident Bush, we were getting organized. Now, we're just befuddled and angry at the way we've been treated. Demoralized in a word. But we've shown (in 2008) what an organized opposition looks like. We would pull it together quickly under a batshit crazy candidate. Sure, I would prefer a progressive or Obama at least for the SC nominations, but maybe that's not what we need.

17. No, she served her purpose and will be discarded now
like a used snot rag. Bachmann took out Palin which was the intent, now Perry will take her out and so on and so on. In the end the insiders will get the candidate they wanted all along.

18. I have never voted straight party ticket...
my days of voting for any Republican for any reason are over. The party has literally gone from me not agreeing with most their policies, but still being able to think of them as sane rational people to me thinking they all need to be put in straight jackets post haste.

But, now they have been exposed as being mean, vile, corrupted, and dangerous to our national security(i.e. credit rating downgrade), it is getting old fast.

I don't know what happened to the media either. I remember when they would report the news in a semi sane semi serious fashion. They might not have been liberal, but they would report stories fairly or at least put on a good act of reporting fairly. Now, we have breaking news of a Republican doing an illegal act and the media is silent. We have openly racist candidates and the media is silent. It seems it is up to ordinary people to educate, friends, family, and neighbors about the issues, because the media is too busy to report news. They would rather write gossip columns.

Grrrrrrrrr no new Texans.

21. Give Michelle some credit.
At least she doesn't run from the media, ranting about how unfair they are.

She could have ranted about the Newsweek cover (Lord knows Palin would have screamed for weeks), but she smiled all the way about it.

Michelle would be an absolute travesty as president, but she has a spine.

I have been a vocal opponent of many of Obama's policies, but I expect to vote for him again.

I'm struggling with this cutting of social programs though... Republicans couldn't even get away with this but a Democrat can?

I dunno, I'll vote Obama with little enthusiasm. Sorry to say I predicted he would be "very much politics as usual" in spite of his Hope and Change rhetoric, which is/was meaningless.

-Andy

Edit: I voted for the half-black candidate and got the half-white candidate. Others have mentioned Malcolm X's "house vs field" talk. I actually called him an Uncle Tom... a white-man's negro. I wont back off from it. But he's STILL better than the republicans.

I voted for the guy with Rev. Wright as a preacher.
