God caught backing multiple GOP candidates.
Cain, Santorum, Bachmann, Perry, ( Palin?)

http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2011/06/god_caught_backing_multiple_go.html

Herman Cain:
Cain told the crowd about his battle with cancer in 2006, saying he's been "totally cancer free" for the past five years.

"You want to know why? God said, 'Not yet Herman,'" Cain told the crowd. "God said, 'Not yet. I've got something else for you to do.' And it might be to become the president of the United States of America."

Rick Santorum:
But around the same time God was encouraging Herman Cain to run for president, he was also telling Rick Santorum to throw his hat in the race. As Karen Santorum told CBN's David Brody in May about her husband's decision to run for president, "It really boils down to God's will. What is it that God wants? ... We have prayed a lot about this decision, and we believe with all our hearts that this is what God wants.

Michele Bachmann:
"If I felt that's what the Lord was calling me to do, I would do it," she answered. "When I have sensed that the Lord is calling me to do something, I've said yes to it. But I will not seek a higher office if God is not calling me to do it. That's really my standard.

"If I am called to serve in that realm I would serve," she concluded, "but if I am not called, I wouldn't do it."

_____________

And now Rick Perry:
God told him to run, he says.

When god goes to the horsetrack, do you think he picks three horses for each race?

12. I'd think God would have better and more effective ways of doing that...
...at His disposal.

13. Yeah, but this is as public as it gets. And perhaps public humiliation
is what they need.

4. Yesterday my dog told me....
Edited on Sat Aug-13-11 06:47 AM by socialindependocrat
Yesterday my dog told me he had talked to God and he said I should run for president of the United States. I asked my dog why God hadn't told me himself and he said, "God works in strange ways." My dog also said God told me to build an ark on the Whitehouse lawn and to get all the Viagra I could lay my hands on. "Why Viagra, I asked?" My dog said I needed it to give me the necessary desire to screw the American people, really hard, for as long as I was in office - I needed to keep up my strength somehow. God probably gave some scientist the idea to create Viagra so that the United States Congress could do God's work.

If this little bit of folly offends someone think of this; it may be a sign that you are a latent Republican and can't deal with the truth that you really can't prove the existence of God. Oh, you say you talk to God and that proves his existence? Well, I talk to my dog, so, does that prove that I'm dyslexic?

5. God should come out an make a statement ...
instead, we are just getting "hearsay" ...

There are plenty of Republicans who, should God truly decide to take up a more involved stance, would be struck dead by lightning any time they swear they're telling the truth ...

10. Why can't God pick multiple candidates?
He tells some people to worship his son who was hung on a cross,
He tells some people to worship him by sacrificing animals on a alter and he has no son,
He tells some people to worship a profit and to blow themselves up taking as many who don't believe with them,
He tells some people to marry multiple wives many children,
He tells some people to worship the cattle on the streets because it is there grandfather.

So why not tell some people to vote Perry,
some to vote Bachmann,
some to vote Santorum,
some to vote Cain.

Just one more reason I am an Atheist.

22. Oh to mock people of faith. And expose your own ignorance.
First of all, you only need to exploit the political motivations of any of these candidates, even those not driven by faith, to reveal night mare scenarios should any get elected.
The most recent debate was proof positive Obama is more mentally prepared to lead this country. He's cooler under pressure and his ideas aren't inflammatory or based on old far right ideology. I've heard this outside of progressive circles.
This group of far-right conservatives and same old failed conservative plans inspire no one.
That's great news. They self-destruct, no effort needed to defeat them as long as we get out the vote - another year of these debates and I'm certain THAT won't be a problem.
But.
This is like mocking football players who praise God after a victory. Giving thanks for assisting in victory.
Often that draws criticism. What about the other team, those players who say God was behind them?!
Every time I read those type reactions, happens every football season, my first thought - you ignorant fools!

It's not about God, to them, giving victory because they deserve it more. They just find strength in faith to do things that are larger than themselves- like play a violent game at mind blowing speed in front of 100,000 fans and many more watching on TV.
It's not a black and white who is the better Christian and who can thank God more on TV.
Doesn't everyone get that?!

No.
They do not.
So, mock them.
Because you do not understand.

The problem is the people that DO know - which is most people - have to listen to religious intolerance at worst, religious ignorance at best and they might think wait - I'm going to vote with THOSE people, who can't simply interpret the motivations of a football player? Why are they attacking Christians?
It's either that, or ignorance. Neither which is attractive.

In some cases, it's better to just keep your mouth shut.
Wonder why far right candidates, completely unprepared to run the offices they campaign for, win?
Stupid shit like this.
You don't gain hearts and minds (and votes) by mocking religion of the other side. In this case, when you are wrong to begin with.
Politics? fair game, mock away. It is our advantage over them, exploit that.
Not your ignorance.

25. Don't forget that Sarah Palin waits for the word of God to tell her to run too.
I heard that she will announce if she will run or not on August 26th.
So, she must have gotten word that God will be calling her on August 25th.
