Speaking of recalls, lets look at Walker
So, Democrats wrested 2 of the three needed for control of the Wisconsin senate, with the final one called for a republican, but questioned by many at the moment.

At worst republicans have a 1 vote lead after today, and there is one apparently reasonable Republican in the mix. Way better than nothing, although with 2 of our own still outstanding, we could still break even if people get lazy.

That said, what does this say about the Walker recall? We are 4 months away from 2012, so its not all that far off.

So far, 194818 votes for republicans, and 186320 for democrats. I think its fair to guess that if the walker recall had been today as well, the vote totals would have been fairly similar for that. So if it were only those districts voting Mr Walker could retain his position as governor, by 8498 votes. But then that is only 7 districts, 6 of which were Republican districts. It would be interesting to see what the next 2 recalls do to that vote total.

1. I'm actually surprised ANY of the Republicans kept their
seats (of course, I'm viewing this from far away). I would have thought the shenanigans this current Senate pulled would have affected EVERYONE, Dem, Republican, in ALL counties.

2. I was hoping for better
but at the same time, look around us.

I live in a bright blue state, and we have huge swaths of bright red, mostly empty of people land, along with altogether too many nutty Republicans even in our urban areas. It took 2008 and the massive up-swell we had there to get rid of our resident moderate (but not really) republican, Gordon Smith. And even then it was a squeaker to elect a Democrat. In blue Oregon.

So yeah. We as a nation are in trouble. The deck is stacked against any real change, in every way it could be stacked. The dealer has the marked deck, presorted, is dealing from the bottom, and has a few up his sleeve in case. Plus they have a camera behind our shoulder with a guy passing information on our hand. If we win a single one, its approaching miracle status.

5. Yeah, I'm right up the road from you in Seattle and I'm horrified
at the redness that's here. Not only in some areas, like east of the mountains, but here on the 'liberal' side, too.

And I couldn't agree more - we're in trouble. Those who believe the Republicans continue to do so even though their lives have been impacted - they are just convinced it's Obama's fault.

3. Historically, it's very difficult to recall a sitting legislator, or
any other office holder. Recalling them based just on political differences is even harder. I had hoped for more, but 33% success isn't half bad.

4. DPW wants to coordinate recall with the GE in November 2012 and not jump the gun and do it
the second that we CAN in a few months. Dems show up MUCH better for those races. It's a smart move.

6. Ok, so if the Walker recall election is successful
will that make Lt Gov Keelfisch Governor? I hear she is as bad or worse than Walker.
