1. sometimes. and sometimes it's just violence and hooliganism
I'd rather do what he did. Notice that riots were NOT his thing.

3. It's Hard to Ignore a Riot
Mainstream Britishers don't want to be bothered with sad stories of what's happening to the poor. Peaceful protests won't get any response at all. However, riots that spill out of control are attention-getting.

I've often wondered what keeps the American underclass so well-behaved. Maybe it's the ongoing expectation that things will be different when a Black guy is elected president. Hmm. Maybe Sarah Palin was onto something important.

It's hard to ignore a riot.

edit: tear gas and rubber bullets do.

These are all things the British police have not employed.

4. That is right. There is no shortage of Television coverage of
Riots.

Here at home, the Louder and More Boistoerous the TeaParty
the more coverage.

It is not the size of the crowd, it is the passion of the crowd.

9. Great quote! Thanks!

It's a terrific counterpoint to the simplistic MSM and police meme that the riots are "pure criminality" with no political or social meaning.

I've just used it as a new sig line!

11. A riot is just criminal activity by a mob ... now a rebellion that can be something different
but if all you're doing is looting and destroying amongst your own that's just a fucking riot. x(

12. He's correct but he clearly disapproved.
He gave his life working to channel the anger into something productive instead of destructive.
