President Obama....Please Fire Timmy Geithner

Mr. President, I know one of your faithful has said he will stay on which for you and your team is good news since you wont need to vet candidates for the position since your team has done a good job finding fresh people with liberal policy values,I know you posses those by the job you are doing.

Even though Timmy Geithner has stated he will remain I ask you just tell him to go. In his tenure with you the economy has not shown much growth,Wall Street cronies especially those at Goldman Sachs who have made off with government funds like wild west bandits.

So Mr.Obama please call Timmy up,have him in for morning coffee and rolls and tell him to clean his desk out and find a fresh non Goldman Sachs dog to fill the position, just get rid of the Wall Street influence.

Thank you.

5. Yes. And apparently Geithner _really_ wanted to cut and run, too.
Which does not inspire confidence, either in Geithner or the President's reasoning as we head into the "even worse" stage of this waltz.

Could Obama at least *TRY* minimize WallStreet's control over Washington?

"Geithner had indicated he might leave after a debt-limit increase was approved, but administration officials indicated that both Obama and the White House chief of staff had urged Geithner not to leave now."

9. You know, that's a really Republican thing to do --
to try to demean someone whose policies you don't like by emasculating them. I'd be okay (though disagree with you) if you said to fire Secretary Geithner. "Timmy" is something that, say, Ann Coulter would use to create an emasculated, immature image. I don't like it when the left does that sort of thing any more than the right. If you have a complaint state it. But don't degrade the conversation.

11. "non Goldman Sachs dog" - Again, Geithner never worked for Goldman Sachs.
He has, in fact, never worked for any Wall Street investment bank. The closest he's gotten is the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Timothy Geithner is hurting the President. Timothy Geithner is the main reason that I am hoping that we will have a challenge to Obama for the next election.

I can accept some compromise. But Geithner is, in my opinion, just rotten to the core. He is so pro-Wall-Street that he can't think logically.

13. Yes, Because The Republicans In The Senate Would Approve The Appointment Of A Liberal!
Edited on Sun Aug-07-11 03:20 PM by TomCADem
That is what we need right now in the midst of this economic crisis, a highly partisan confirmation hearing on the Secretary of the Treasrury where Republicans can grandstand like they did on the debt ceiling fight.

Even better, we should have accepted Eric Cantor's suggestion that we have a two part increase on the debt ceiling so that we can multiply the risk of default! Maybe we can get the U.S. credit rating downgraded into junk status!

Woohoo!!!!

:sarcasm:

25. Your post says it all
If the President of the United States doesn't get to make the decision who his Secretary of the Treasury is, who does? The Senate minority?

Then Obama might as well resign right now and hand the reins of the country over to David and Charles Koch.

Obama has to either grow a fucking spine or just tear up the Constitution and walk away.

As Bill Furlong wrote in the Chicago Daily News lo these many years ago "'Tis better to be honest and hated than corrupt and despised."

32. He does have a spine. He is saying "Fuck Off" to all the
Geithner detractors. Why should he listen to people with no/little financial knowledge?

Its the same type scenario with Holder, Daley, Hillary Clinton, LaHood, etc. He has chosen his team.
