SF: Ed Lee will run for a full term as Mayor.
San Francisco caretaker Mayor Ed Lee is expected to take out papers to run for a full four-year term Monday - and from what we're told, he won't be bankrolling his campaign with any public dollars.

"It's not that I have anything against public financing - it's just not something I feel comfortable doing at this time," Lee said.

Lee is also betting that given the $3.1 million (and counting) that nine of his mayoral rivals already have collected from the city, this strategy will help distinguish him from the pack - not to mention blunt some of the criticism from going back on his pledge not to run.

Newly released campaign spending reports show that other leading candidates have already spent a total of $815,000 on political consultants - thanks in good measure to the generous taxpayer dollars they have collected.
