So all the DU'ers trashing the idea just prove their ignorance.

It's a temporary fix and one of the very few tools left that Obama has at his disposal since the Republicans are blocking everything else.

That is just a fact.

2. How does it help? Do you really think it's going to set off a round of hiring for good jobs?
If you do, you are sadly deluded.

3. BS, this is nothing but feel good nonsense that deprives the government of even more operating money
Stop diddling with the symptoms and raise the taxes on the Well to do.

6. How does a 2% decrease in payroll taxes really help?
That amounts to $2 for every $100.

Median income for the US is $31,111. That amounts to $11 each week.

9. Are you joking? It's an assault on Social Security. The less paid in, the shorter it is viable.

10. you mean that because it is trickle down it is the only thing a Republican dominated Congress
will allow to pass.

Well, to that I say "so the fuck what?"

It's better to propose a good policy and take it to the people - even if it does not pass, than to propose bad Republican policies and attach the Democratic name to them just because bad policies will pass.

Democrats can always give up and help to pass bad Republican policies, and, that's what they have been doing for too many years. It is time for them to change, to start fighting for good policies. If they do that, then they give voters a reason to vote for them, and they will have people fighting on their side for those good policies.

Don't come attacking me and telling me I am ignorant for opposing bad policies. That's not gonna convince me to support trickle down, or the politicians who propose trickle down. They either fight for me, or I fight against them. I am not on their side, they are supposed to be on my/our side.

11. The money has to go into SS anyway
Edited on Sat Aug-06-11 03:16 PM by Angry Dragon
where do you think that money comes from??
It comes from the general fund, it comes from tax revenue

edit: I said it was a stupid idea the first time, it is a stupid idea this time
Raise the cap, raise taxes on the more wealthy, close corporation loopholes

13. No.
Unless it is specifically paid into the SS fund by the workers, it is more open to cuts by politicians intent on cutting Social Security. The general fund is more vulnerable to cuts at the whim of politicians.

14. Back in Decenber when he put this on the table
the 2% that the workers saved was made up by monies paid out of regular taxes so SS would have the same amount going in
