In my long lifetime, I held my nose and always voted Democrat for President
I first voted in 1970.

Most Democratic candidates did not thrill me, but I voted for them anyways. Most of them were mediocre, which pains me, but that is the way that it is. Many were not elected, of those that were,

Some became embarrassing in office almost immediately, some over time.

Carter, Clinton, Obama. 40 years of voting, this is what I get.

Clinton had a long learning curve, and finally grew into the job. The early Clinton administration was so amateurish and embarrassing, until he grew some balls with the second government shutdown.

I hope the same for Obama. Grow some balls. Learn to play hardball, learn how to use the bully pulpit.

The Republican alternative has always been worse, but in the past decade it has been unbelievably worse. It is now time for a battle for the soul of America. We can't be dominated by regressives, extreme regressives. What is our country about, anyways?

1. The protests from the people of Wisconsin last winter
was encouraging even though there was poor media coverage. We can not underestimate the importance of the Wisconsin recall elections in a few days. The battle for the soul of Wisconsin is also the "battle for the soul of America". Send money if you can and pay attention because this has the potential to be huge.

2. In my not so long lifetime, I have found that holding my nose is not a very thrilling experience.
For it a rather lackluster affair to vote for a man, instead of an idea.

3. Agreed!
All Obama needs is some backbone, I seen a little of his
backbone the night he shut-up Donald Trump at the awards
dinner when only Obama knew where the Navy Seals were at that
moment, or where Osama Bin Laden was. That was what you call
cool! How soon the people forget.

the only President I would have voted FOR if I could have voted (I wasn't old enough) until Mr. Obama came along. I voted FOR him. Every vote I cast in between those 2 was a vote AGAINST somebody. Thinking of that makes me sad. How I wish we had men of conviction to vote for, work for. Most I find just plain dull and uninspiring.

5. Right now I am not sure if I am voting for Obama or against...
the Republicans. Either way Obama is going to get my vote because the alternative isn't just horrifying, it could mean the end of democracy as we know it. Oh wait did someone say super congress. Oh well the end of the what we have left of democracy.

6. Yeah, I hear you. But this time I won't be excited about voting
for him like the first time. Back to voting against the other guy. sigh

7. Kennedy is the first election I remember.
I was eight, and the only kid around whose parents weren't voting for Nixon.

I vividly remember the assassination.
