40,000 expected to line up for free school supplies at Dallas mayor’s fair
With temps expected to exceed 110 degrees.

Do you get a clue yet? My partner teaches in DISD,and will again supply stuff for his kids.

Enjoy your tax breaks, Tea Party.

Oh,wait... they didn't apply to YOU.

More than 40,000 people are expected to attend the annual Mayor’s Back-to-School Fair on Thursday in Fair Park.

The fair provides school supplies to qualifying families — those who meet low-income guidelines and live in Dallas or send their children to Dallas public schools, said Becky Mayad, event spokeswoman.

The free event is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Automobile and Centennial buildings.

Free medical, dental and vision screenings, immunizations and haircuts for kids will also be offered.

“The fair helps students get the year started off on the right foot,” said Amanda Sanchez, spokeswoman for Mayor Mike Rawlings. “It prepares them to be ready with everything they need for the first day of school.”

1. And then duplicate this in almost every community in the usa. Our
church has a box out asking for donation of new supplies. The Native American Center is also supplying these items for their children.

I like the free health care given at this fair. Good idea for the whole usa.

Remember when free polio shots used to be given on the first day of school in the gymnasium. That started right after they were available and it ended the disease for the most part.

2. ...and the love for their fellow man has begun
"I bet if you follow half the people home that received the free school supplies, they probably have a cadillac escalade or navigator in the drive way. I would put money on it that 90% have cell phones."

"more free handouts huh?i bet the line will look just about like the one pictured in the "free housing" story a couple weeks ago.DMN, PLEASE POST A PIC OF ALL THOSE IN THE LINE FOR THEIR FREE HANDOUTS!if dallas cared at all about illegal immigration the INS would be there in FULL FORCE..."

"All you have to say around parts of most major cities is FREE and watch the people come running. Hope they have a formidable DPD presence on site. History has proven repeatedly that when you offer FREE stuff to low income families anarchy and pandemonium reign through the crowd."

"Hey Jeremyroberson, INS would be wasting their time since 99% will be Blacks."

"Last month, free home vouchers. Let the riots begin. If you can't support your kids, maybe you shouldn't be having kids."

"Stop the breeding."

"Alkohole be why we qualif-I for da free schwag"

3. Last year, my granddaughters teacher put out a supply list
and it was pretty conservative. However, she went to Sam's and purchased stuff in bulk and was willing to resell for $10--when, if we had purchased, would have probably been close to $30.
She also gave people the opportunity to sponsor other students. It went very well. Was a win-win-win for all.
