LA Times: Jerry Brown's shakeup of California Board of Education...

In one of Gov. Jerry Brown's first official acts this week, he sacked the majority of the state Board of Education, replacing several vocal proponents of charter schools, parent empowerment and teacher accountability.

This is a great article. It offers many questions about the direction of public education in California...now that we have elected Jerry Brown to be in charge. ;)

4. I get the feeling he's going to be really no nonsense
No idea how good his actions will turn out, but it seems like he's going to just push forward aggressively and get something done.

8. I take issue with the "vocal proponents of .... parent empowerment and teacher accountability." line
Trying to paint him as some anti-parent/anti-accountability figure....

14. He's not anti-charter, but I think...
...he is pro-public education and supports unions AS HAVING A ROLE TO PLAY. He established public charter schools when he was mayor in Oakland. He is also an expert on California government...one with experience at all levels. We need that under the current circumstances. He'll be fair...and he's definitely the opposite of Meg.

12. Corporate media helping out their buddy...

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Would anyone like to bet me that Jerry's cuts will target the most vulnerable, undocumented workers, the unemployed and students, but not one single debt payment to the Banks will be missed?
